Recording ring tone

Hi

I’ve been trying to record to first bars of Stereophonics “Nothing precious at all” as a ring tone. I did the recording bit on *Nero Burning* and saved it (wave file) to desk top then put it into sounds on the MPx, it duly appeared in the ring tone list – but wouldn’t play.

Any Ideas as to what I did wrong? Or how to do it so it works?

Usually (Or at least for the original SPV) they [smartphones] don't like really long WAV files, so if you're using the full song, that's way too long.

As you mention you're only using the the first few bars, I'll assume it isn't that. The other thing it might be then is not a fully compatible PCM WAV file. Some codecs will still make a WAV file, but encoded with something the phone doesn't understand. If you can try re-encoding the file into a PCM file, that may help. If you can't, or are unsure how to (I don't know what tools you have), E-Mail me the file (PM me beforehand so I can tell you my LARGE E-Mail invbox) and I'll try converting it for you.

It should accept any bit-rate for the WAV file, but anything above 22kHz mono is lost through the phones speaker (Though its better on headphones).
