I posted a reply to a similar question on a different thread. Try unloading any extra apps you have, one at a time, and see if the backlight starts working again; that's what happened to me. The buzz is coming from an inductor in a switching power supply in the base of the phone. The only thing you can do is send it back. Sorry...

Because with my mpx200 it was brand new, no new apps, used it like three times, the backlight keys went out and my phone started humming, this is the case for many people check mpx200.org, the attwireless forums, etc....I'm not saying your wrong, but to me its like those things were it has happened to too many people to be just a coincidence!
Guest PooBear Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 Just to clarify 0- its not software related as i have performed a master reset and and on a vanilla mpx it still buzzing when the screen is open and the backlight is on and there are no keypad lights. I have contacted orange they are replacing it - looks like it might be a mfg fault. Hope this isnt like the handset problem that the mpx was plagued by...
