I just got an email from someone who is currently working on the new Smart Explorer, and it is apparently going to include sending files via bluetooth - a beta will be available soon!!!

Any more news on this mate, as this is the one area that the SPV can be be a Nokia killer. In as much as they have had Bluetooth sending for nearly two years (yes, thats how far behind the SPV is), devices like the N-gage are choosy about what images you can send, and make it damn near impossible to send a sound file.

So if Smart Explorer DOES come to include Bluetooth sending of any file you browse to, this means so much on the E200!

Can't beleive Orange/MS never built it into the OS itself though. Major boo-boo...

Isn't possible to send files using bluetooth with the e200?

Not until this prog comes out. Crap isn't it

Please remember, even when it comes out, because of issues with the phone, it will be fairly limited.

Let me put this into perspective...

The Nokia 7650 (groan) has now been out officially for two years.

And yet it allows fiarly wide ranging Bluetooth file sending from within the OS and certainly free 3rd party apps. But contrast that with the bang up to date E200 that doesn't allow anything at all over BT.

Er, let me simplify... even now, two years later, and even requiring third party apps to manage it, we won't get the same functionality as what the crappy 7650 allowed two years ago almost.

Er, I thought my E200 was a SMARTphone.

Mmmm - not very clever to me!

To change the subject slightly, but as an extension to the last post, my 8210 had voice dialing 4 years ago!!!!!!!!!

Touche mate - touche...

And this is another thing Iwas surprised to find my E200 didn't have when I got it.

Its an enigma, my SPV... It does loads of stuff that is streets ahead, but it also lacks a lot of things that are de facto bog standard on most other phones now.

Orange are too forgetful of this if you ask me.

I wonder how bluejacking might work with this? I'm awaiting the first press report of someone receiving a goatse.

IA Files Manager lets you send anything via bluetooth!

As mentioned in that particular thread mate elsewhere, this was an EXCELLENT dicovery by those of you responsible mate.

But expecting me to pay $14.95 (for the software) just to allow me to send files from my e200 over bluetooth is pure taking the p*ss when you consider the now old nokia 7650 has had this 'out of the box' for nearly 2 years.

(Rant aimed at Orange/HTC/MS, not at you mate).

All the more frustrating, given your info and my own experiences now, that show the PHONE ITSELF is the real provider of this, in that a normal IR send results in the BT devices being polled to.

So in real terms, the phone can do it with the current hardware, and underlying OS - they just seem to have forgot to bolt on the actual 'interface' or menu/screen to allow this!

Unbelievable!

Some Tom, Dick or Harry should be able to make a small little program using this! There are alot of capable programmers out there!

All you would need to do is, make a simple file selector program which plugs a selected file into the IR function. Much like when a contact card is plugged into the function when sending contact cards via bluetooth.

i agree ma man, but if its the only one which lets you do this, maybe you could just buy it, i would, only $14.95 (or is it the moral and not the price?)e

Both, but mainly the price mate.

When you save all your pennies, to break the bank and buy a fairly pricey E200 (becuase of its newness), it makes me spit teeth and then cry, to find that I have to pay even MORE money that I don't have, just to allow me to send video files to an N-gage over Bluetooth.

No way...

Mmmm - hope someone writes a little proggie soon...

Come on guys - who's up for the Challenge!

Which one of you lot is gonna be the first to give us:

"Bluetooth Beam for SPV (E200)"

A tiny program that is just a simple interface file browser for sending files form the phone?

Possessing a BMW means so much to me, but I don't have one...

Not sure I follow you...?

Is there any news on such a programme coming out which allows BT sending of images etc? Obviously free is the best

The new version of Smart explorer is now out. You could use that?

Posted from my SmartPhone!

Thanks for that. I'd checked it out before but obviously my eyes didn't work somehow.

Cheers
