Guest rickt Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 Down loaded some updates for my second hand phone , I only got it Saturday, Put activeSync 3.6 on my computer and ran the .exe file .Its failed ,but it's now locked on the Tri coloured Canary screen. Cannot get to do anything . There's no connection to the phone .What a bummer , bang goes 170 quid. Is there anything I can do ? or just put it out for the bin men ..they'll be here on Friday.
Guest martin Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 Can you get into the bootloader menu ? If you can I would try a hard reset and re-booting again (leave it re-boot for approx 10 minutes) If this doesn't work then try re-loading the software while the phone is in the tricolour screen and attached to the the USB connection. Failing that, try loading the original software again.
Guest rickt Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 Cheers Martin, Can get into bootloader menu , followed the instructions for a Hard Reset , re-booted and its been on for three hours and wont get past the Tri colour screen. Dont know how to re-load the software , have been searching for similar problems on the forum but no luck up to now. Any advice will be very helpfull , I 've got in to a bit of a mess with this thing now. Many thanks
Guest Brody Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 After a hard reset it shouldnt restart into the tri-colour screen. Presuming you are on Orange try running the Orange ROM whilst in the tri-colour screen and see what happens.
Guest rickt Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 Great news, I searched through some of the back posts for similar problems and the answer was to re-connect and run the software update again.I switched USB ports [i think one of the rear ports is faulty] and Hey Presto ....old software deleted.....new software installed and I thought what the hell I'll run the sim-unlock to .I'm really pleased now as My T-mobile contract sim card is now working and I've got some new additions to the programs on my phone.I only got this second hand phone on Saturday, joined this forum on the same day, thought the software installations were way over my head, but just to show all you other newbies what can be done with the help from these guy's on this forum.I want to thank the chaps who replied to my post and helping me out ....I really thought I would have to bin my phone , but not now ...Many thanks
