Guest sgray Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 hmm i seem to be having a little problemo putting ringtones on the MPX200. the manual says to copy WAV files in to the IPSM/application data/sounds folder on the phone using the Windows Browser, and they should appear in the list and then you just select them. all this happens correctly, and i can choose my sound, but when i try and play it, the phone just beeps at me.... anyone else tried this out???
Guest Bonzo Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 Yep... been working since day one with ringtones stored on the phone & the card... I guess it could be the encoding used on the wav file not being compatible... if U want U could PM me one of the files & I'll try it on mine & let U know
Guest sgray Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 hmm its wierd... it works for some and not others...MagnumPI.zip
Guest Bonzo Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 Yep it's as I thought... and a quite simple answer... if U right click on the file when it's on your desktop before U sync it to the phone & look at the summary U will find it's encoded as MPEG layer 3... in other words it's an MP3 not a wav file, (PCM encoding), and the SP2002 platform can't use MP3 as ringtones
Guest sgray Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 oh ok... thanx mate.. really appreciate the help =)
Guest bbideal Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 hmm its wierd... it works for some and not others... hi sorry you have more ring tones to mpx
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 If a ringtone just beeps instead of playing, this is because it is encoded wrong. Ringtones should be midi0 Have a look in the sticky post in the Help and Advice section it's about converting mp3 to wav
Guest phonesmarts Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 can the mpx use MP3s as a ringtone if its upgraded to SP2003? or is it a hardware limitation?
Guest mike-oh Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 i think it's mostly definitely a software issue since we know that the phone is perfectly capable of playing mp3s. Roll on SP2003!
Guest phonesmarts Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 if its just software then i agree, mike-ohalloran! Roll on SP2K3! (mp3 format RTs will give me more space to fit more!!)
Guest jack_d12 Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 i've put two midi's into my mpx200 and it's not letting me using it for contacts. i put it in application data then sound on the phone not the SD card but it won't let me select it. Also does the mpx200 support moving .gifs as wallpaper ?
Guest phonesmarts Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 are the midi's type 0? if they're not (like polyphonic) they will not work. No, it doesn't support moving gifs as wallpaper...but i think it does as startup/shutdown screens.
Guest jack_d12 Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 u mean they have to be polyphonic ? i'm not sure what type they are ?? how do i check .. i'm pretty sure they are polyphonic tho cuz i can play them in the file manager but they won't show up when i want to choose them as a contact specific ringtone ...
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 Ringtones have to be midi0 and not polyphonic. For more information on the settings have a look HERE
Guest jack_d12 Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 that link only tells about .wavs ??? not much info on midis ... ???
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 The bit I was linking to was, WAVs must be formatted PCM 22,050 Hz, 8 Bit, Mono (Windows Sound Recorder can convert to this) and put in IPSM / Application Data / Sounds.
Guest jack_d12 Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 but that's for wavs ... what about midis ?
Guest wolfbrother6 Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 I am also in a fix about the midis. I use Anvil Studio for my midi work, and it has a converter for midi 1 (polyphonic) to midi 0 formats. However, the midi conversions i do don't work on my MPx200 for some reason. If someone can recommend a midi converter that is tested and working, please let me know. with the converter i have, i don't get the beep, just silence. :x Wolfbro
Guest wolfbrother6 Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 Here is one of the ringers i've been working on.zeal3ring.zip
Guest Disco Stu Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 It's a long time since I was doing it, but I think this was the MIDI converter I was using : GNMIDI v2.0 Shareware for Windows 95/ME/2000. There are a few free/shareware tools available on the net : a quick Google will find them. EDIT : here's one ! http://medlem.spray.se/converters/ :D I know what you mean by the 'silent' ringtone but I don't know enough about the format to understand why :?
