Guest mattbrown Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 Posted from my SmartPhone! just got my new e200 upgr from orig spv, and hav been off the scene 4 a while, and sorry if qs hav already been askd, is the phne software unlock, if not where can it be done? can u netwrk unlok it aswel?
Guest drblow Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 Em ... yes the e200 is partially software unlocked. Some things (like binarys explorer & task manager) will install, you just get a prompt that they come from an unknown source. However, some aps won't install without unlocking (skin .cab files in particular), & some apps from the e100 wont work. I tried a few things from my storage card which didn't work properly - orneta notepad being the most important to me! You can still unlock using OTA - it may take a while, & the thing that worked for me was getting the IMEI no. by typing *#06# on the handset. Apparently some of the boxes don't contain the full IMEI no.?? :? AFAIK there is no network unlock possible for the e200. There are other posts about that. Hope that helps!
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 AFAIK there is no network unlock possible for the e200. Annoying - but they'll be somewise guy working on it just now - genius whoever you are  BUt you could always pay off the remainder of your contract and ask Orange for an unlock code :?: spacecowboy

Guest Gnuig Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 Posted from my SmartPhone! 1 final Q, my phone seems 2 get stuk on gprs icon even when pressin end call button, is this known prop? This is a know problem (although I don't think gprs activates during calls, yet depends upon connections/mail features being used (as I don't know for sure if sms can run over gprs (mms?!, anyone). Try using the search feature  (and you should get lots of hits on this bug). Just hold the home key down approx. 3 seconds, and you will get a menu where it is possible to deactivate gprs (until you use it again), as I found myself doing this after checking for e-mail/opening web pages. You can also detach it completely, but not so good if you need it, as you have to restart the phone for it to be available again. Also leaving gprs seems to run down the battery quick-er (although I'm sure some will try to argue that it doesn't). Hope this helps.
