HOWTO create custom ringtones using only native Win XP tools

I have had a lot of "less geeky" people asking me about creating ring tones for the Smartphone 2002 device. I put together a fairly simple way of creating ringtones using only the Sound Recorder from Windows XP.

My instructions (with pictures) can be found at Ring Tone Creation. Please share your comments and suggestions here and forgive me if this is common knowledge (but I haven't found anything like this).

hey jonathan, consider me a "non-techy" i dont have an xp. i only have the win98. another thing is id like to convert mp3 files to wav files. please help. tnx man!

Didn't get very good results initially, which is why I'm looking around for more info! Whoever did the Voodoo Ray sample was bloody good though.
