Delay in opening inbox

I have recently upgraded from a spv to MPx200 and noticed every time I try and open my inbox, the screen freezes for upto 20 seconds before the messages appear.. Is anyone else having this problem?? Sounds a very minor prob, but is very annoying!!

Yeah I think it pretty much affects all MPx handsets, at least in the UK... and I think I'm right in saying, (but I do live to be corrected  ), it's as a result of the MMS software being used...

I'm guessing as to the reason tho but I've noticed it only really seems to 'hang' when the inbox has been closed for a reasonable amount of time, (enough for the hardware to pretty much 'go to sleep'), so I'm guessing it is the process of 'waking' the MMS client or even that the native software may 'time out' after a while and once again has to wake...

Like I said tho I do live to be corrected :D

You're pretty much spot on with your MMS assumption, just did a hard reset which got rid of the MMS software and now the inbox opens up as quick as the SPV did. I don't think I'll bother putting the MMS software back on again since in the year I owned my SPV I have sent two MMS messages and received one. To be honest I'm happy to have an IPSM folder with over 7meg free in it, the MMS and other free software that came preinstalled for me can wait on the CD until I feel a need to have it back on the phone.

I agree, the MMS software is definately the culprit !

Installing it to the SD card, as I have done, makes it EVEN slower. Being an Orange World subscriber though, I get a number of free MMS messages per month, so thats kind of hard to pass up. Leaving the inbox running in the backgroud does seem to help, so a pretty much one time startup cost of a few seconds is worth it.

I've found its fine so long as you keep it running in the background, otherwhise it takes an age to come up. Any idea how much it will reduce the standby time if the inbox is pernamently running?

Just to confirm, I did a hard reset which removed the MMS software and now the inbox opens quickly. is there any other MMS software that could be tried as an alternative?
