Guest Sp3ctre Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 Is there any reason whatsoever why you would need to charge the handset for 16 hours like Orange tell you to? The battery shouldn't have any memory effects should it?
Guest Bonzo Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 It's very much a generic thing that comes from battery manufacturers... the only time the battery would have any affect on memory or functions etc. is if it was a a level sufficinetly low as to not be able to power the hardware properly... the reasons behind being told to charge it in the way U have been and to allow the phone to discharge completely once a month, (I wouldn't reccomend letting it completely discharge with an OS like Microsofts tho!), is to condition the battery... and as such to maintain it's performance at optimum levels... there are very technical reasons for this but in essence it is purely to optimise performance of the battery over an extended period of time!!!
Guest alphaflux Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 I would definately agree that it is NOT a good idea to let these things drain completely. Did that over the weekend and it corrupted the registry.
Guest seaflipper Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 I personally recommend charging the MPx200 battery for the full 24 hours as per Motorola's directions. After 2 bad batteries, I have discovered that this seems to be important. The ironic thing is that Motorola says to charge it 24 hours before first use and AT&T says to charge it 2.5 hours before first use. In fact AT&T says to go ahead and plug it and turn it on... Who knows, maybe I got 2 bad batteries in a row or something...but the third one was a charm at 24 hour initial cycle...
