Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 http://www.orange.com/English/forwardthink...vupdate2003.asp Enjoy! More info as it comes! My source says: We are going to post a tool that will let you backup your IPSM, upgrade, and restore to your SPV and E100 - that tool should be up by next week, early in the week. So, your IPSM will be nuked with this update. If you don't fancy messing around with USBTerm wait until next week for the restore tool

Guest xanadu Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 Well, it's a bit crap they couldn't sort out the IPSM thing when they released it, but hay, I'm going to give it a go anyway. Who cares about the IPSM.... I just want a phone that is useable. I will try this out soon.

Guest JoelRae Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 Great, it's crapped mine up. Goes to the canary screen. Harsh :? I think I'll wait till the backup/restore app comes along... sounds pretty useful  Hooray for Mr Orange & Co
Guest petermatheson1 Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 Is it not possible to backup your data using orange backup and restore from that?
Guest legalbeagle Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 What's another 6 days for a proper back up...
Guest kyrkesmith Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 Yeah, but doesn't do your apps and stuff. Not much more than you can do with ActiveSync, I believe. Anyway, I'm kinda up s*** creek, as I've tried a hard reset, but it keeps coming back to this bloody tri-colour screen.
Guest Mr Orange Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 This was made available on my way home from work, which is why you guys beat me to it. If the update goes to the bootloader, try the update again. This 'usually' fixes the problem.
Guest Will Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 live updating going on in IRC at the moment, click chat to 'feel' the experience, or if you are having problems.. Will
Guest antiunix Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 What will this update do to my Swedish smartphone? Is it going to lock to Orange or something crappy like that? (Got a Qtek 7070) /@nders

Guest xanadu Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 Can't I update my dutch SPV with english software ROM ???cor Have you tried putting the SPV in bootloader mode with the canary screen first, and then try the update ?
Guest Sonicr360 Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 Is there a manual way of backing up this Data and then restoring it on the latest Update? S.
Guest morpheus2702 Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 Note to those using iMATE 1.5 ROM - update from the Canary (tricolour) screen
Guest ferret Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 11.4Mb!!! Bl**dy dial up, but at last wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo yyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!
Guest splintercell Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 Just a quick success story. I just updated my original SPV, which had been unlocked, running the I-Mate 1.5 version, and on T-Mobile USA. Still works, definitely faster. And as a plus, MSN Messenger finally works.
Guest Bonzo Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 So here goes with what I'm guessing will be important questions to a lot of people... Anyone who has upgraded... Does it restore the application lock??? I'm guessing that will most likely be a yes... And also does it re-apply the SIM lock??? Thanx in advance guys
Guest splintercell Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 Mine was unlocked and still runs on T-Mobile, USA, so the SIM Lock doesn't seem to have been reapplied. However, it still seems application locked.
Guest Darkaeden Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 ...ok guys. After that update...my phone will be sim and application unlocked?????? Is there a way to bypass that??? Will i use the ornage developers site to unclok my spv after the update??? Let me know
