What do you think of the 1.6.1 update

What if you thought the phone got faster AND it was worth the wait?

Not sure just how much we can tell after 5 hours of having the update?

Be interesting to know how battery performance is improved come end of the week.

And being worth the wait is so subjective - and very argumentative.

The DK-version of the update cannot be unlocked...

Does not run ActionRegister (old/new) an nothing happens at the developer-pages....

So now I´m waiting for the next update...

(and the phone got faster - so does your computer when formatting the drive)

Was pleased at first but not really all that impressed now. It has a SMS counter and Messenger works, GPRS seems to be better but there is nothing all that impressive. Phone seems faster as it would be after being wiped and you can have your ringtones on the SD card now, which you could only do with software before.

However you can’t have custom ringtones for contacts on the SD card which makes it kind of pointless. :x

I can only use one ring tone at a time on the SD card so it is a bit of a waste of space. This is what I was looking forward to on the update, instead I will have to edit the registry again (back to how it was before the update), so that I can store ringtones for contacts on the SD card. Did they just miss this?

It wasn't much of an update for me,

yes the gprs works better

yes we have msn again

yes we can count the the letters in our sms

yes the free ia tools are nice

but what about my battery life

<a href=http://beersoft.demon.co.uk/crapbattery.jpg'>

we are 14.5 hours in to the day and im on 43% (10 hours left) i think we have 2ish more hours of standby power, its an improvement but my handheld gps lasts longer (and doesn't get confused as much)

not using his phone because it just wants to go flat very quickly

errrr, you guys arent impressed????? what where you expecting? i think people expect way too much from any 'update', whenever you run windows update on your pc, do you expect a completely different os? of course not, and the same goes for the phone updates, its fixed bugs, in fact, we are lucky to get extra software, thats something i wasnt expecting

As a primary moaner, even I can say that aside from finding out how much better battery life is, the update has fixed the majority of problems.

Sure, there is the inevitable post-updatal depression now that that the update is here, but I haven't forgotten this is SP2002.

It kinda feels like I have a new phone now!

Im happy with the update

im well chuffed with the free software they have thrown in and that the majority of the things that where broken are now fixed.

im not going to moan here about my battery, thats for another topic.

morpheus, good point hehe

the good thing is, 1.6 seems to not have introduced any new bugs, something that some updates by other carriers seem to have got wrong (see, sometimes its better to wait than rush out updates )

Well worth the wait peeps.

I agree with Morpheus and Midnight, definately fixed most of the problems. And I was actually quite galled when I found out the update included Task Manager and (assuming it's ever found :?: :? ) Space Maker. U see, it almost makes me wish I'd kept the SPV rather then giving it to my Dad and getting the E200.

And, Spacecowboy6982, is the battery life of the SPV really that much worse then the E200? I hadn't noticed much difference.

Hmm, i'd say the SPV's was slightly better...for now anyway - going to do a test me thinks
