Guest spacemonkey Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Remember all those nasty sounding little tunes on your C64? Well now you can play them on your smartphone. This site has a lot of sid files for your listening pleasure : http://www.hvsc.c64.org/ Basically extract the zip and copy the contents onto your phone somewhere. It comes with a sid file to get you started. You need to pick Action-Play of the menu to get it started and up down on the list will change songs. To change volume, use the volume buttons on the side of your phone. I have had it crash and require a battery pull, but this is on specific sid files rather than in general. I'm gonna see if I can track down this problem... but beware.Sidplay.zip
Guest xrayz Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 BIG BIG thankyou for this been waiting for this app since the day i got my phone  :D
Guest midnight Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 oh you little beauty, if you like sids, try this zip file.... 21,272 sid files its 37mb, but has almost every sid tune ever made or, if you prefer, browse to here to browse by category and download what you need  may i recommend the Ocean Loader tunes (by Martin Galway), which are just totally amazing, as are The Last Ninja tunes (by Ben Daglish and Anthony Lees, the first last ninja tunes where the best) oh, one thing that is missing m8, is the ability to choose sub-tunes. C64 tunes usually contained more than one tune in a single sid file :D ps.... what do you mean nasty sounding? these things where state of the art in the day, compare these to one channel spectrum music hehe :)
Guest midnight Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 And some more stuff for you c64 lovers out there.... 'Press Play On Tape' who a c64 music revival band, have made a music video based on the music from Comic Bakery by Martin Galway. It really is great fun and i recommend any c64 fans check it out. Here is a compressed Smartphone version and you can find the original Avi here.
Guest DMF Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 See this ? This is ME with Martin Galway, Rob Hubbard & Ben Daglish - If anyone wants to meet these guys drop me a line and ill fill u in on how  Thx muchly for Sidplay - so far ive been turning them into wavs and using them as ringtones :D Btw - in case anyone wants to see the photos from the Brighton BitLive event (yes that IS Rob Hubbard playing on stage) ... click this link - now start drooling :)
Guest xrayz Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 now all that we want is a c64 emu for smartphone
Guest spacemonkey Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 oh, one thing that is missing m8, is the ability to choose sub-tunes. C64 tunes usually contained more than one tune in a single sid file  Sub tunes???? Oh my god... I might have to try and understand this thing to do that... I just tweaked the setup and the gui
Guest midnight Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 hehe, sidplay should have that feature already (the pc version does at least)

Guest Jiff Lemon Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 /waynes world on We're not worthy, We're not worthy /waynes world off This single app has just convinced my friend (another ex-64 fan) to get the MPX. We too met hubbard - I bought him a 4am breakfast following last years brighton gig. 8)
Guest owziee Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 (edited) Great app!!! Maybe somebody could tweak this player further to look better on QVGA smartphones? This is how it looks in my HTC S710... "Name" , "Author" & "Copyright" at the top looks a bit screwed up as you can see.... Otherwise it works great, would be nice if it had support for subtunes though... Edited November 17, 2007 by owziee
