Guest Spank0 Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Hello there, I recently got an mpx200, and have had nothing but troubles since the first boot up. First file explorer wasnt there, then when i found a similar program the phone wouldnt let me run it.. and now after 'decerting' the phone (thanks alphaflux), ive encountered another problem. This time with my inbox, when i open it up and select 'new' nothing happens, same with 'menu - new message' it just stays on the inbox screen.. I think i may be in need of a hard reset to start over again, as nothing seems to be working well at all (i get error messages on startup 'unable to locate UserInterface Resource File', and even doom wont work!) Anyone got any advice? Will i have to unlock the phone again if i do a 'hard reset'? It was originally locked to orange.. Any advice on how to solve these problems or how to to a hard reset would be appreciated! Thanks Alex
Guest smokedog Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Posted from my SmartPhone! Reboot the phone while keeping the action button( Blue key) pressed, then press yes. You will lose all your saving setting as it reverts the phone back to factory state. So your phone will be app locked again. Remember next time use the search function.
Guest Spank0 Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Thanks, Quick question tho, will it be locked back to orange only? Or will i still be able to use my vodafone sim in it without any probs... Alex
Guest Shuflie Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Resetting the IPSM has no effect on SIM lock status of the phone.
Guest alphaflux Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Hey Spank0, The problems you mention with the inbox are caused by the MMS software not being installed correctly. My guess is that after you hard reset your phone; you re-installed the jMMS software to your storage card. There are 2 options to fix this: 1. Remove the jMMS software and re-install to IPSM. 2. If you want to keep the MMS software on the storage card. Copy the MMSResource.dll and profile.xml files from the Storage CardWindows directory to theIPSMWindows directory. Once this is complete you will also need to edit the registry. Using a registry editor search for "IPSMWindowsjMMS" and for each occurance replace the "IPSM" part of the value with "Storage Card". If you have already rebooted your phone since the installation; you will also need to delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareJataayujMMSprofile key. This will force the Resource dll to re-read the profile.xml file that you copied. This file contains all the orange specific settings, so is a vital step. Hope that all makes sense ... So ... looking into the future, I see your next problem. If you also install the IA Album software to the storage card, whilst the application will function correctly, the MMS "insert picture" function will not. Here is how to fix that one. Again, there are 2 options ... 1. Read above (and replace jMMS with IA Album). 2. Again you'll have to edit the registry. Do a search for each occurance of "Program FilesIA Style"; and again replace the "IPSM" part of the value with "Storage Card". This will fix the association problems that you will also find with the software. Think thats it ... Alphaflux.
Guest dma Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 Alphaflux Looks like just the problem I am having. I am sure the fix will work, so thanks. Edit: Yes it did !
