Guest Digiboy Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 I've long been unable to 'reply' to SMS sent from a relative on an O2 PAYG Nokia 3510i. They always fail with a 'Message Undeliverable' screen shown on my SPV. I CAN send a new message to the number. I called Orange customer services who tell me that there is a long-standing fault in the system which prevents Orange customers from replying to some O2 numbers and that there's no fix for this. Sounds ridiculous. Anyone know if this is correct? Cheers :?
Guest badboy4life Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 I think the problem is with an O2 setting. On an O2 phone one of the options that can be set in the message settings is 'Direct Reply' which then sends the sms with the centre number. When you try to reply it attempts to send your sms via the same centre number. In order to prevent people using 'free' foreign centre numbers Orange block the use of any other centre numbers except their own, so when you try replying it detects the O2 centre number and rejects it. And this is also why when you create a new sms it sends ok because it uses Orange's own centre number. Or at least this how I understand the situation.
Guest Digiboy Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Thanks for that. So do you know if the 'Direct Reply' option can be somehow disabled to allow replies? Funny world. Cheers
Guest badboy4life Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 You should be able to, just need to go to the sms settings on the phone and it should be a option, similar to centre number, validity period, etc...
