Guest memoreks Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Hi all, Its that time of year, where I am going to get a new Phone. I have had my SPV a whole year (which is a long time for me to have a phone!) and its upgrade time, so.... I want to stick with a Windows-based phone, and I am currently undecided over which to go for, MPX200 or E200. Now i am quite familiar with the MPx200, as a mate at work has one, and I have been playing with that, and I am well aware of its capabilities, looks etc. However I have not been so lucky with the E200, and I have not even seen a real one yet. So what I am really asking is, what is right and wrong with the E200. I have noticed a few problems seem to be banded about Modaco, but I can't find a definitive list of positives and negatives with the E200. Could someone elighten me, so I may make an informed choice next week when I come to upgrade? Thanks
Guest Sir Oracle Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Use the exceptionally useful Search facility...... here you can cut and paste this .. E200 review ....into it or go to E200 review
Guest jonblakeburn Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 If you're actually after an opinion rather than a review, I'd say get the E200. I got the Developers version from Ora.co.uk to use on O2 and I've been more than happy with it. The camera's perfectly adequate for a phone, the sync-ing via Bluetooth is a neat feature, and the phone's much much faster than the original SPV or E100. Its much nicer to use too. The screen's really vibrant - same screen as the E100 - and the case feels of a decent quality. Hope that helps...
Guest memoreks Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Thanks, but I have read reviews of it. I was more after the opinions of users. Reviews are all well and good, but you can't beat a general concensus. Reviews on fan sites tend to be a bit one sided too  I am erring towards the E200, simply because I think I'll be disappointed unless I get the top-of-the-range phone. More comments are welcome though! =)
Guest Emad Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 I personally think my mpx200 is a fab piece of kit - but thats because I don't have any use for bluetooth and have a digicam  Plus I love flips. The E200 has had a couple of problems, as well documented here - has the speaker buzz been sorted? Plus the battery life isn't as good. However, it will have more software available to it. The rumoured mpx220 would be the best piece, but that'll be a few months.. Mind you, the mpx200 is also ridiculously cheap - cheaper than the 7250 I think!
Guest jonblakeburn Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 The E200 has had a couple of problems, as well documented here - has the speaker buzz been sorted?I've never heard such a thing - I suppose I'm lucky... Plus the battery life isn't as good. True, but I'll either be near a mains socket or in the car at somepoint in a 48-hour period, so a 48 hour standby time doesn't bother me much. The rumoured mpx220 would be the best piece, but that'll be a few months. I'll agree with you there. I've always been a Moto fan, so a Moto phone that actually has some features I want - Namely Bluetooth - is something I'm looking forward to!
Guest Emad Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 I think the battery life depends majorly on whether you have bluetooth enabled too - its under a day with bluetooth seek on. Who wants a bet it'll be made decent by a patch released in exactly a years time? As for the buzz, just look at the threads in this section of the forum :D I don't think its on dev phones, funnily enough. Batch number thing or something..
Guest memoreks Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Thank you all for your replies. I decided to go with the E200 after all, and it should be delivered tomorrow morning!
