Guest rpb Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Has anyone else experienced this? It affects both the speaker and headset volume, even with WMP volume and headset volume set to max. It seems to happen intermitently and is cured by a reboot. Any clues on the cause?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Are you sure you're not pressing the action button down when playing to turn the display back on  The action button up and down adjust the volume in Media Player.
Guest zeta101 Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 rpb, i had the same problem (and it isnt that awarner  thats the first thing someone would check) i saw someone else post about it a while back..i *think* its got something to do with midnights LED flasher, or one of the homescreens that uses it. I cant think what the connection is though...all i know is that i took off the LED flasher and i havent had the problem since.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 Got to try the simple things first before wading in
Guest rpb Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 It is definitely not the down key. The only tweak I have made to the phone is to add a "V0" to the ringtone 0 sound script. This allows an increasing ring and vibrate. Could be some sort of connection with the LED CAB problem reported elsewhere. I havn't been able to work out what triggers the loss of volume. Midnight - any clues?
Guest rpb Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 This is still happening. I have removed the "V0" I added to ringtone 0 and have also uninstalled PHM registry editor. The only other independent software I use occasionally is the "Quickclose" program. Does anyone have any clues? Might I have a faulty phone?
Guest zeta101 Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 are u using one of midnights homescreens that used the LED flasher?
Guest rpb Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 No. All I have done is to use PHM Registry editor and Quickclose as mentioned above. I also changed the External LCD link to display a logo other than "Orange" when the flip is open.
Guest PDAZealot Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 I have had this happen when a new email comes in as well. it is not related to changed home screens but i have on idea why it does that. Very odd. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest rpb Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Might a hard reset help? If I do this, how much reinstalling of applications is required ?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 You will have to resync and install all apps you have previously installed. Personally I never use mediaplayer (well very rarely) and use PocketMVP for movies etc as it's far superior.
Guest Shuflie Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 You will need to delete the partnership with you MPx200 in activesync to be able to resync to it, not such a big deal with smartphones as it is with PPC devices since there are no backup files to worry about.
Guest Laser Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 I get this same problem with my Mitac on occassions, and I have not installed this homescreen/plugin you speak of.
Guest rpb Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 I have now done a hard reset and the problem seems to have gone away (touch wood !) However, I have avoided making any changes to the registry in case it was doing this that caused it.
Guest Philpo Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 I have the same problem! If im using WMP and i recieve an sms the volume goes quiet. Like previously stated, a reboot fixes the problem.....need help!
Guest megaman Posted December 28, 2003 Report Posted December 28, 2003 I have this problem as well. i havent hard resetted my phone yet...but what works so far is, i dial voicemail and turn the speaker phone on and hang up the voicemail call...this usually fixes it, but its temporary. it goes back to the low sound problem....did the hard reset fix the problem? I did installed some of Midnights home screens but i uninstalled most of his stuff and it still does it...i dont know wht it is...i have no led pluggins installed. not that i know of. thanks mc
Guest rpb Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 The hard reset I did about a week ago seems to have worked. The problem has not come back. However, I have not yet unlocked the phone or used the PHM registry editor in case it was either of these that caused the problem in the firstplace.
Guest midnight Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 errr, one thing i can tell you is that it should not be any of my hopmescreens or tweaks that cause this. This is a volume setting, something i have never touched. (apart from the increasing ringtone) methinks its just a fault with the mpx smartphone software, simple as that.
Guest Bonzo Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 I'm not so sure it's just the MPx Midnight!!! Although I've not experienced this with the MPx yet my old original SPV used to suffer from the same problem :?
Guest megaman Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 :) hello, well midnight, i didnt mean to pick on your home screens. i think theyre top of the line designs. i love them. but i read in couple of other threads that the led pluggin does it and someone also said that one of your screens have led pluggins and they cause the problem....I personally think its the windows 2002 smartphone software on the phone... sorry, didnt mean to blame nothin on u. mc
