Guest sasha26 Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 I had a bunch of color themes on my mpx, and not needing them, i deleted them. now when i go into add/remove programs, i have about ten "theme generator" programs listed. when i try to uninstall them, it will not uninstall. how do i get rid of these program "ghosts?" are the files located somewhere in the phone that tell the phone that these are still installed? help! thanks!
Guest Shuflie Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 You need a file explorer installed on your phone to do this, the activesync connection will not do. The files you need to delete are located in IPSMWindowsAppMgr, in there you should see a folder for each instance of the theme generator that is listed in add/remove programs. Just delete each folder and reboot the phone when done.
Guest sasha26 Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 there are no folders with the theme names... any other suggestions?
Guest Shuflie Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 What are you using to look in the folder?
Guest sasha26 Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 the supplied file manager. should i use something else?
Guest Shuflie Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 Strange, I didn't get a file manager supplied with my phone, are you with AT&T? Try binarys smartexplorer, that definitely shows the contents of the app manager folder, however if you can see some folders in IPSMWindowsAppMgr but just not the theme manager ones then it isn't going to help out much, the only thing that I can suggest in that case is to delete any folders in there not obviously related to other programs you have installed, the worst you can do is to remove the option to uninstall a program using the operating system. This wouldn't be the end of the world as you can manually delete them to recover space.
Guest scott2eyes Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 You need a file explorer installed on your phone to do this, the activesync connection will not do. What's wrong with activesync and Windows Explorer? I assumed that if you set Explorer to show hidden & system files, you'd see everything- is that not the case?
Guest Shuflie Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Ignore what I was saying. It appears that you can see the contents of the Appmgr folder on te MPx200 through activesync  I was certain that you couldn't do this on the SPV so it must be the same for the MPx200 to but I was wrong apparently. Will retest with the SPV when I get home just to make sure I'm not losing my mind here.
Guest scott2eyes Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 You're probably right- I can't see anything in the AppMgr folder on my MPX- I was just curious as to why ActiveSync wouldn't "see" particular files that were in there. (Never let a newbie's posts call your mental state into question!) [EDIT- and now I can see what's in the folder. Maybe I'm losing the plot...]
Guest sasha26 Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 still showing the theme generator programs in add/ remove programs. any new suggestions?
