Guest lawsonium Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 Ok, I know this not very important, but don't you just hate it when things don't work when they're supposed to. I placed the talking clock .exe file and all the .wav files I downloaded from monolithix on to the SD card and created a link to it inside the programs menu. When I run the app it just plays the MPx200's default error beep three times and does nothing. Almost as if it can't locate the .wav files and just plays the default beep instead. As it is not an installable app I can't imagine there is a registry key that needs altering to point to the wavs, maybe they just need to be in a sub dir, but they didn't unzip like that. Any help much appreciated. Matt.
Guest rogerbates Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 Have you tried using a File Explorer and just select the actual speakingclock.exe file from the folder on the card? If that plays ok perhaps it is your short cut that is the problem. I had exactly the same problem when I put it on my SPV but I can't for the life of me remember what was wrong or what I did to sort it! I am fairly sure it was something to do the shortcut that I put in the start menu.
Guest lawsonium Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 rogerbates, thanks for replying to my post. I tried launching SpeakingClock.exe from SmartExplorer but had exactly the same result as running it from the link, just three default dings and nothing else! It's a pain, and although I fully understand that it's not a serious problem it is annoying. Any other suggestions? Anyone here actually have this app working on their phone? Matt
Guest rogerbates Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 I have actually got it working, if it is any help it is on my SD card under the folder clock. ie Storage Cardclock Not in my documents or any other folder and everything is in that one folder. Have you tried playing the sounds in the folder? If they don't work then perhaps you need to download it again, if they work then I don't know what could be causing it but maybe you should try downloading it again just to be sure.
Guest lawsonium Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 Hey, thanks. The solution was even more simple than I thought. I had installed it to this directory: Storage CardProgram FilesClock now I have it in Storage Cardclock and it works. Strange, but I guess the app is hard coded to look for the wav's in the root of the drive it's exe is held on and not in the same folder as it's exe file. I know it's a bit childish but... what the hell it's fun  Thanks again dude. Very helpful. See you around. Matt
