Guest blewer Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 After I helped someone sort this out today, I looked in the forums to see that a few other people were having problems with this. This worked first time for me, I will take you through what I done  I am guessing that you have installed the bluetooth software that came with your dongle and you have paired the dongle with the E200, if not do that first. -First sync your phone with active sync via the cable in the normal way. -Disconnect your phone from active sync. -Pull the cable out of the usb port and insert your bluetooth dongle in to the same port. This should be put in to the port directly and not through a 4 way adapter etc... -Right click on your active sync icon on the toolbar (lower right of screen) and click connection settings. Select the COM port you have your dongle plugged in to. -Hold down the home key on your E200 and select bluetooth on. -Return to the home screen and count to at least 10. (Seems to take a while to bluetooth to pair.) - On your phone goto active sync press the right action key and select 'connect via bluetooth'. -Syncing should start. -once this is done you can piggy bank your internet connection Let me know if this helps anybody, please post here! Adam Blewer :D
Guest casper508 Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Im using a USB hub so can't follow the steps exactly. But to get this to work, all i go is take out the dongle from the port, wait 5 secs and plug it back in and look for devices. This seems to work but kinda annoying if u happen to sync via BT a lot. Cas P.S. I cant get to piggy back my internet connection
Guest blewer Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 I cant get to piggy back my internet connection As long as you sync over bluetooth you should be able to. Make sure that you are set to pass-through or automatic under Internet connection. Settings/Data Connections/ You will need to be connected to active sync for this to work  Good luck
Guest casper508 Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 Finally got pass thru to work over BT as well. Had to disable proxy settings, thats it. Cas
Guest hardysmith Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 Got it working here too thanks. The key thing for me to get it working, was to make sure that the COM port in the bluetooth serial matched the com port on the connections options in activesync. Anyway, I am amazed just how small the range of the bluetooth on this phone is. I am struggling to get more than 1 to 2 metres away from my Belking USB/Bluetooth dongle. Anybody else found this?

Guest Smartphoner Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 Hi, I get the following Error: "Unable to connect. Verify your Dial-up or proxy settings are correct, and try again." What is it talking about? I'm using bluetooth, no dial-up nor proxy! First I spent hours to pair it, and now I get this error :) Thanks
Guest trooperz Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 :) I tried everything..and then came across this post - What can I say except Thx alot Blewer..wicked tutorial.. It took some messing about getting the right COM port but it works..I had to reboot my pc before the sync worked as my e200 was saying another program was using the port I had chosen..and I knew it was free - rebooted my desktop and Boom sync works great!
Guest andie Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003  i carnt do it!!!! my pc states that the e200 does not support bluetooth sieral port  any help very welcome :?
Guest jason8 Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 Anyone got it working with the Tecom 3030? I've tried for hours... still no luck and i'm no novice.
Guest gold_24k Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 I jsut bought a PCMCIA bluetooth card and I can't get it to do anything except work as a modem. Can anyone help?
Guest Will Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 My main mistake was to use the 'bluetooth activesync setup. rather than just pair, and then use the 'connect via bluetooth' option in the activesync page. (also i eventually found widcomm drivers of a recent release).. Will
Guest wahblow Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 This is really frustrating. When I select connect via bluetooth, absolutely nothing happens. What software are you using?
Guest deepak Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 i have a IBM T41 with built in bluetooth...I am strugling now for a long time trying to get them active sync but all my trouble in vain as i read on the site for xphone(spv2) that it does not have a port so cant support active sync via bluetooth...Now i just left syncing issue thinking it was not possible...and then i read this in the forum...if anyone can help me again as bluetooth here is buit in i had written in this section long time back...well i realised one thing that all our smartphones with bluetooth have all the necessary ports to get them to activesync with our computers or laptops...what is missing are the right drivers and software that comes with the external or internal bluetooth devices for our computers... viz...sony vaio does not support activesync as it has proprietory set up to sync with clie only(how funny) i upgraded to an ibm laptop with bluetooth and that too was giving me a problem when i saw the latest widcom software release from IBM for its laptops....which then had the bluetooth neighbourhood icon and then i could very easily pair and activesync my xphone... bcause then IBM with the new drivers gave me a virtual port which is the key to a sync as that is what needs to be selected in the activesync window and u r ready to do anything post that
Guest Rob.P Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 Anyone having problems with the Toshiba BT SD Card 2? I have it working for Activesync, be buggered if I can get it to work as a modem though. What sort of modem should it be installed as? Standard Modem? Also would modem access work on the same BT port as the Activesync? For anyone having problems with BT, a prog came with my BT that allowed me quite a lot of control of services, remote and local, and what ports they map to via BT. Without this I couldn't have got it working. One thing I did find out is that the smartphone's activesync service will only show up as a service on the phone when you try and activate sync, it will then show the "Object PUSH" service which I presume is the ativesync service. I'm also presuming the SSA service is the modem part of the phone?
Guest wahblow Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 Where can I download the latest widcomm software from?
Guest wahblow Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 finally got my Bluettoth activesync connection working. I followed blewer's thread ( very good) but I kept getting '….Another program is using the port…' So on the phone in active sync, I went to menu - options - menu - advanced and the the connection to use as bluetooth. I removed the bluetooth dongle and reset the pc. When the pc restarted I inserted the dongle and un-paired the pc and my phone. (I previously bonded the devices) I then used the set BT activesync menu to bond the devices (Phone has to be in discoverable) I then set BT to 'on' and tried 'connect via bluetooth' I got the message on my PC asking me to accept the connect and bob's your uncle. It seems to get this to work you need to read all the threads and put them together. I am using D-Link 120 dongle and it comes with widcomm software
Guest timothee Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 Maybe not the correct topic for this reply, but there is something not clear to me. Everyone who got BT working with Activesync uses a BT dongle with widcomm software. My BT dongle, however, uses the Windigo Systems driver. I did everything which is stated in several howto's but nothing works! Com 3 for the serial BT connection is found by Activesync, but syncing doesn't work :D I really do not know what to do except then selling this dongle and buying one with the widcomm software. Or has anyone else a suggestion?
Guest wahblow Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 If the connection is detected by your PC but there is no synching, while you are still bluetooth connected try Active Synch -> File -> Get connected. You might have to try this several times before the program itself picks up the connection and starts synching
Guest timothee Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Well...I tried at least 10 times, but nothing happens...he is able to find something on com 4, 5 and 6 but not on com 3 (the serial comport) :D
Guest con100 Posted January 30, 2006 Report Posted January 30, 2006 Hi new here, so dont know if im in the correct forum but my problem is something similar, i have just bought SPV C500, and have been trying to set up the bluetooth or rather use bluetooth and wondered if in the settings menu above bluetooth there is the option "Beam". Guest PaceUK Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 (edited) Hi new here, so dont know if im in the correct forum but my problem is something similar, i have just bought SPV C500, and have been trying to set up the bluetooth or rather use bluetooth and wondered if in the settings menu above bluetooth there is the option "Beam". Do i need to activate beam for bluetooth to send or recieve? Yes! you only need to set this option once though as this setting is remembered. Also wondered if anyone could tell me how to get bluetooth on my laptop, i know it is supposed to be bluetooth ready but do i need to buy a dongle, there is nothing on the comp that gives any info about this, i have just came across this site and have found the info on here brilliant for folk like me (technocrap ie fonefobic) so just want to say thanx for all your input thanx <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Try: Start > Control Panel You should see some bluetooth options there if it is properly configured. If it is "Bluetooth" ready then you wont need to get a dongle. If you cant see the options and the sales guy definately said that it was bluetooth I would contact the supplier and see what they have to say. If you try those and you are still having problems get back to us and we will see what we can do... hth Pace Edited February 6, 2006 by PaceUK
