Guest phonesmarts Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 Hi, Im a new user to the MPx200 and to this forum. I was wondering if any of you are experiencing tremendous battery life loss with the phone on standby. BTW, why is it when you charge the phone the battery life on my "System Info" screen drop at least 20%?
Guest flashflash Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 how are u charging your mpx200? USB or mains charger. The reason I ask, is when I charge up my battery using the USB cable connected to a pc, the battery never lasts a day. However, when I charge with the mains charger I can get 2-3 days
Guest Drewtech Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 I have been charging mine using both the USB and the mains with no problems. I get at least 2 days standby plus a bit of GPRS and about 45 minutes a day calls. in fact I haven't let the battery get below about 50% yet. Poor signal strength does have an impact though.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 I normally get two days and three+ if don't use the phone for games
Guest phonesmarts Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 well, ive been charging the phone using the main charger (no cradle) and it still never lasts a day i rarely use the phone except for some 1 minute calls during that day
Guest salad_tosser Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 i have already had to replace my battery. i only bought it in the beginning of november. it kept saying to charge it even though it had been sitting on the charger (yes, it was plugged in) all day. then it wouldn't even boot. att wireless luckily gave me a new batt.
Guest abatis Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 I seem to be getting a good two or three days depending on use.
Guest Neondaze Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 I have noticed that lack of signal drains the battery somewhat. If there is no siganl for some time the phone gets quite hot. I assume that this is because it is searching for a signal. If I am going to be in an area with no signal for a while (ie a basement), then I tend to switch the phone to aeroplane mode. This solves the problem
Guest Du2ty Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Talking about signal I find my MPx doesnt register signal where my old 3410 does? Strange.
Guest phonesmarts Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 does actually setting the network settings to "manual" help?
Guest dma Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 I definetly have a battery issue. Haven't got it to last over 36 hours yet (on a 100% indicated charge), will try charging from the mains and see what happens.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 If you lose signal the phone will use a lot of power while searching for a network. If you are in a non-signal area ie builing at work or on the tube it is best to actually turn the radio off (areoplane moade) as this will save the battery. Playing gnuboy I have noticed that the battery will last and show full bars for ages, then suddenly droop off over a short while. Remember the battery alarm comes on around the 30%ish mark.
Guest KingDaddy Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 I played Gnuboy for two hours and dropped to 50%. Not too bad, in my opinion.
Guest phonesmarts Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 i traded my old mpx phone in for a new one, lets see how long this battery will last :)
Guest mike-oh Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 BTW, why is it when you charge the phone the battery life on my "System Info" screen drop at least 20%? I've noticed this too. But my mains charger is fried now :D
