Broken/Silent SMS notifications

Greetings all!

Yesterday my phone stopped notifying me when an SMS arrives. No noise. No vibrate. Nothing. Incoming calls work fine (my ringtone plays and the phone dances) but nothing with the SMS.

I've tried various things like rebooting, removing the battery for awhile, poking the profiles, sounds settings, using the french ringtone changer (which I normally use anyway). Nothing seems to be able to turn the SMS notifications back on.

I've been able to solve most problems I've encountered by no luck here. Anyone seen this? Is there a fix for it? (I would prefer to try and avoid a hard reset if possible).

Thanks in advance :-)

Have you got any unread messages? I don't think it'll tell you there's a new sms if there's already a new one in there

This happened to me when i had about 1500 sms's stored in my inbox, and my phone decided it'd had enough and deleted all of em. I found no way of sorting this problem other than a hard reset. By no means i am saying there isnt a solution, its just i couldnt find one.

Annoying innit?

Very annoying... However none of my messages have been deleted so I don't think that's it (tho I do have probably around 1500 of them).

I just remembered that I installed SMS Cool less than 24 hours before I noticed this happening. It wouldn't surprise me if it disables phone notifications when plugged in (since it plays it's own sounds though the computer).

...sending email to AIM about this...

Well, still no reply from AIM - rather disappointed with that... :?

Good news is I resynced with SMSCool and I have notifications back. Software is definitely in beta form, as I now have a couple thousand copies of one of my sms's on my desktop  hopefully this is fixed in the future along with the notification bug.

oh, and... cool site

mmmm.... praise... ;-) Thanks mate!
