Guest bit slow Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 hi i want to completely start again (out of box state) with all the applications when i upgrade to the new 1.6 rom update.is it best to do a hard reset first then upgrade or will it be done for me when i upgrade? thanks in advance. :?
Guest ferret Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 The update wipes your phone during the upgrade. Format your SD card using a card reader or Smart File Explorer, and you'll be left with a totally new phone. Happy reinstalling.
Guest bit slow Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 hi thanks for the info. just acouple of questions more. what connections would i loose(gprs / wap?) and how do i make a note of these to put back in after the upgrade. also would it be better to remove my storage card as i do not want ot loose any info on that. cheers
Guest zeta101 Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 i also have a question about the update...what happens to all your contacts? if i run an active sync before the update will i be able to resync my conatcs bck onto the phone after wards, or are the conacts left unaffected?

Guest ferret Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Nope, storage card will remain unaffected, however you will lose your shortcuts to any programs. Just use Smart Explorer (or similar) to paste shortcuts back to IPSMWindowsStart Menu. Orange UK GPRS/WAP settings are re applied and don't need to be changed. As goudvarken has stated you can sync your contacts back post udgrade. Or you can use Orange Backup to restore. (Remeber to note your user name and password, I've learned by experience!) SMS will be lost, however you can search the forum for cemail.vol (the file name where the SMS are stored as I remember someone was playing around with trying to back them up.
Guest goudvarken Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Isnt That difficult here its explained http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...mail+vol+volume or you could use a program for it
