Guest Pagemakers Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 I have 2 E200's here. Charged them both full yesterday. One has the screen saver on (turns the screen off after x mins) the other leaves the screen on (dimmed). I can confirm there is absolutely NO difference in battery life between the 2 phones. I never turn the screen saver on, on my phone. Can't see the point of a blank screen. Now this test confirms it  /Settings/Power Management
Guest rob_pearse Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Hmm, might do similar with my SPV and see what happens
Guest SirGaz Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 That is surprising, I would have thought that it would take at least some charge to keep it updated. It therefore means that the code running to provide the info to the screen is still in operation, just that the screen doesn't display it.
Guest Pagemakers Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 All I can say it try it yourself. I can probably do a better test here because I have access to 2 phones.
Guest SirGaz Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 I shall do just that Pagemakers
Guest Pagemakers Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Oh dear, this is going to be like when you recommend a good restaurant to a friend...
Guest Shuflie Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Makes sense in a strange kind of way. Have you ever removed the battery from your SPV? Apart from a few lines appearing on it (presumably from some sort of capacitive discharge) the image displayed still stays on screen, not sure for exactly how long as I've never left the battery out for all that long. The screen may even need some sort of refresh pulse to clear the information from it actually using more power than if the screen saver is disabled. My MPx200 is totally different though, once the battery comes out the screen turns black.
Guest Pagemakers Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 As there is no backlight on I guess it just has the same "sort" of power properties as an LCD watch - IE: not a lot.
Guest samo123_uk Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 screen savers were made to save power fron old crt monitors when they were not in use. lcd however emit very little power so the screensaver mode would be pointless.try pocket candy,i think that has a disble battery option.(it works on the e200 if u app unlock the phone)Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest MECX Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 hmmm did the same on my Orginal SPV and the battery level dropped more having the screen left on. (by about one bar over a day)

Nope, screen savers were created to prevent an image from being burnt into the screen when displaying the same image for long periods of time. Power Management tools were developed to save power by turning off the monitor, HD or whatever you wanted.
