Guest rack1 Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 I currently have the original SPV and have just reached the end of my first year with Orange so am eligible for upgrade. My question is this: Is the E200 a worthy upgrade or should I wait? Your comments/suggestions please. Keep it nice please ;-)
Guest mattbrown Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Posted from my SmartPhone! i hav upgraded frm an orig spv, def worth the ugrade, not only do u get bluetooth & a cam, which the features & quality r fantastic but also the screen quality beats the orig spv by miles - so go for it
Guest kevlar Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Thats the move I just made, and I would say definately. For a start you dont realise how bad the spv screen is until you see an E100/E200 in action. Then there is the speed, the E200 is like a rocket compared to my spv, even after the latest patch. And the E200 is so damn sexy, everyone in work thinks its cool, even people who didn't like the spv at all. Add Bluetooth ( even though it needs tweaking ) and the built in camera and I see no reason at all to stick with the spv. Yes the E200 has a few issues ( I won't go into them, there is enough reading about them on this forum ), but the positives easily outweigh the negatives. Just my opinion Kevlar
Guest MECX Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 What about the MPX200, much better looking/made phone in my opinion. im in the same situation as you and i might get the MPX200 as i never use the cam and ive never had bluetooth so wont miss it. Then again if the CAM is built in i might use it, and one of those bluetooth headsets would be cool ---dammit you got me thinkin again, always a bad sign 8)
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 I'm just about to upgrade to the E200 after a call from OCS. Was thinking about the Moto but will wait for the MPx220 before I consider a change in style. The pro-posters have convinced me
Guest rack1 Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 Thanks for your comments guys. I think I am pretty much sold on the idea of the E200. Now all I need to do is convince Orange to sell me it for next to nothing and I will be sorted!
Guest rack1 Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 Well I have done it! just phoned Orange and upgraded to E200. Did a bit of negotiating anf got the phone for nothing!!!! That's right people zero pounds and zero pence. Orange are great!
Guest kevlar Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 well done m8, you won't regret it. Kevlar
Guest hatton33 Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 how long did u have left of ur contract?
Guest hatton33 Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 ok ignore that, just read the post properly! sorry!
Guest rack1 Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 Well it's arrived this morning as promised by Orange. First impressions are what a vast improvement over the original SPV. Only criticism I would have is that I bought an additional USB cradle for my old SPV and it does appear that I can't use it with the E200. Is this correct or am I just being thick? Thanks
Guest usrhlp Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 How did you get the phone for free? i really cannot justify 200 quid to upgrade an original (buggy) phone to another one which may have probs, im about to upgrade my os (for the second time) and hopefully that will reduce the slow downs on the spv and make the phone better! i am on everyday 50 with gprs bundle and my contract ended on the 1st of DEC! Give me advice, a free phone would be VERY tempting to renew my contract!!
Guest rack1 Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 Well it was easy really. I phoned Orange upgrades and asked how much it would be to upgrade to E200. They said on my current tariff (Talk 60) it would cost £179.99. I said I really didn't want to pay that much and would like to reconsider my options. The lady at Orange asked if that meant I would be leaving Orange and I said maybe. She asked me to hold and went off to speak to Customer Relations. She returned a minute later and said that they could offer me the phone for free! I nearly fell off my chair. After careful consideration (about a nano second) I got up off the floor and signed up. It was as easy as that really. I wouldn't say that I really pushed them for a free phone, they just offered it to me. I must say that Orange have been fantastic since day 1 and I will definately stay with them for the forseeable future. All I can say is give them a ring and you maybe pleasantly surprised. Good luck!
Guest mardeman Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 I also managed to get it for free. I have line one and two, and so my bills are about £60 per month. The only thing is, I have just had to invest in a car charger, and second home charger as the battery life is so bad. I have read a lot of posts on the battery life. Finally realised, that my first ever mobile (NEC P3) only lasted 3 or 4 hours, so this is better than that. Also, I do not think I have ever been away from a plug point for more than six hours at a time, so who needs a 7 day battery life.......

You will get the MPx200 for free (if your bill is more than £30 a month, or you go through to disconnections) even if on E50; I did!
Guest mcwarre Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 Topic: Is E200 worth the upgrade? No.
Guest mardeman Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 My criteria was Camera and Bluetooth. There are only three phones that can do it. T610, Panasonic and the E200. The E200 has to be the best of all of them.
Guest xanadu Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 I am upgrading from original SPV to the Nokia 6600 in January. SPV is incapable of doing basic tasks like SMS without serious problems. Lack of general support from Microsoft and Orange has put me off getting another SPV, and the poor battery life also.
Guest mardeman Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 I have had no problems with SMS. Must have sent quite a few this week. I had problems with MMS, but that was because I had not updated my SIM Card (used the original one).
Guest xanadu Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 I have had no problems with SMS. Must have sent quite a few this week. What about the egg timer coming on all the time while having a chat in SMS, and that is with the latest update. My phone locks up at least once a day, and when in the locked up state anyone calling my phone hears ringing but my phone does not ring or give any indication of an incoming call, and also SMS messages are lost forever. Orange tell me this is normal.
Guest mardeman Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 My phone is new this week (although who knows how long Orange have had it). I dont appear to have had any of these problems. Maybe I am lucky, OR maybe I have just not used it enough.
Guest xanadu Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 MSN? :D MSN works great  Nokia 6600 is capable of MSN too, with add on program.
