E200 SPV Active Sync Problem

I got a new SPV E200 yesterday and have been trying to get it to sync with my pc for the last 36hrs. I installed active sync (3.7.1. downloaded from ms website) and then followed the instructions and plugged the phone in when requested (after installing active sync). It never asked me what kind of partnership to set up. The only thing that happens is the activesync says No Partnership and Not Connected. You put the phone in the cradle and it says connecting for a few seconds then goes back to No Partnership and Not Connected. When you run the Get Connected... wizard it doesn't find the phone. I have spent about 4hrs on the phone to orange with no avail. I have tried my phone in my mates cradle on his pc and immediately it asks me what kind of partnership, so the phone is obviously ok. i have tried another cradle and cables (which definitely work) on my pc and that doesn't work either. You can see the phone in device manager so the usb seems fine (also given it tries to connect when you put it in the cradle one would assume there is a link to the pc that is working on some level at least). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling activesync and deleting the phone from device manager so it reinstalls it, but none of this has had any effect. Orange have told me because it works on someone elses pc then according to them its fine (which caused a rather irritated discussion to occur, sadly again to no avail!) and hence they won't give me anymore support (ie they've gone through all their diagnostics and none of them fixed it, so they're stumped).

If anyone can help me at all then it would be so appreciated, i have been waiting to get a phone that works for so long (took orange a month to send it to me!) but sadly it all seems doomed!

hello,i have been having the same probs with my connection to the pc and its doing my head in has anybody got a clue??? ive tried running the software on a friends pc and it all works fine,uninstalled active sync and also the usb's but this hasn't worked either.

Check your firewall settings as they can cause problems.

Thanks awarner,finally managed to sync my phone.Changed the firewall settings as u said and it sync's fine now.I'm a bit green when it comes to pc's!!!! :D
