Guest dkawa Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 Goodmorning to you all, Yesterday I was trying to backup a bootloader via winHex but first I got the message an error occurred while accessing drive F. So then I checked this forum for some solutions and found one from awarner, 'Place the disc in the card reader open Winhex and go to ToolsDisc Editor Choose the location of the SD card in Physical Disks NOT Logical Drives Click OK and the contents will be displayed. Now choose FileCreate Backup now you can choose the location of the backup click OK and then you' This worked OK, but at the end I receive a message that says that my card is too small and the action will be aborted... Can somebody tell me how big the SD card has to be if I only want to backup a bootloader? Thank you...
Guest dkawa Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 Anybody? Can somebody help me please???
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 Been a while since I used Winhex to back up a bootloader, as I always use USBTerm (far easier and safer) also I always backed up on the PC not a card. Just checking my files and the bootloaders I have using winhex are less than 7MB where as if you use USBTerm you can fit a bootloader onto a 4MB card

I also checked the SD card if the 0.98 bootloader is on it, and it is. But now I want to start my phone in the strap mode but then my phone won't detect the bootloader. Why?? Can somebody help me please? Because this is my 2nd day trying to downgrade the bootloader.. I do not know what to do anymore.. Thanks in advance,
Guest dkawa Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 HELP please!! How can I solve this...?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 Normally if you power off the phone then place the card into the phone press and hold the record button then the power button (as in a hard reset) when the phone starts to power up relese the buttons and the phone should say "Card Found" and then ask to "press any key to download" to install the bootloader.

Yes I did this... The phone said CARD FOUND, but then it has to say LOAD BOOTLOADER, or not?? Because after CARD FOUND I pressed a key but then I see the V1.00 bootloader again... :?:
Guest Will Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 this is because of 2 possible things: The bootloader is a version that does not support dynamically loading bootloaders. (most updates over 1.5) Or The bootloader on the card is corrupt, and hence is not detected by the phone. Will
