How do I get rid of "rules"?

I'm trying to make a few custom homescreens (through playing about with other people's ones), but I can't seem to get rid of the "rules"- the lines that go across the screen, and make it look all messy.

I'm guessing it's something to do with this bit of the XML;

<background b-border-width="0">

But I can't figure out how to get it to make the borders nonexistent/invisible.

Or is it something in the colourscheme I need to change?

Any help would be appreciated!

Well, after scratching my head about this all afternoon, I've figured out that the problem was that I was looking at the "background-border-width=0" bit in the plugins- not realising that I had a default setting to worry about as well!
