I can't install software via autoinstall from my pc

I can only get programs to install on my mpx if I have a .cab file for it. Programs such as the CallerID off the cd run on my PC, but nothing happens on my mpx except a brief screen like you would see if installing any program. That screen briefly appears then disappears.

When I first got my mpx, I tried (unsuccessfully) to install Journal Bar (a PPC app that wasn't compatible with smartphone). Maybe that caused this problem?

I really need the ability to autoinstall apps from my PC onto the mpx as most programs don't have .cab files.

I'm synced via AS, I can explorer my phone on my PC, etc...everything should work fine...I do get a reaction out of the mpx when I autoinstall. But, the install screen on the mpx appears for a millisecond, then goes away.
