Guest Satans Cyber Kid Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Hi Guys, may be its me but the alarm on the SPV is S*it it only rings a few times no matter what tone i have for it. Unlike nokia where it keeps ringing until you press snooze or dismiss Has anyone else noticed how crap it is? and is there away round it?
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Haven't tried it, i'll have a play. If this is confirmed, please add to BugTrack! P
Guest Firaas Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 I've not tried it, but it's one of those things that someone's going to have to develop a program to replace. I occasionally rely on my phone to get up in the mornings, and usually go back to bed if the phone shuts up by itself or doesn't ring again when I physically shut it up.
Guest Firaas Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Damnit Paul, why do we keep replying together to the same posts :D

Have a play and see what you think......i use my phone to get up int morning and really need this feature Hope microsoft sort it as i am sure its not only me who uses it to get up in the morning
Guest Firaas Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 The following reply to this problem on microsoft.public.smartphone: In outlook set an appointment for (e.g.) 07:00-07:00 on Monday, set the reminder for 15 mins before, and then recur it for the days you want. i.e. Mon-Fri. You can also change the reminder sound in 'Settings/sounds'. It will keep going off until you press 'postpone' or 'dismiss'. Seems to be a good temp fix :D
Guest Anonymous Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 What's even more annoying is that there is no scheduled alarm... on my old T68 you can set an alarm for Monday through Friday for 6am. On the SPV you can only seem to set a alarm one time only, and even then I don't see anything on the front screen to show me an alarm is in progress. Grr.
Guest Dave Abrey Posted November 27, 2002 Report Posted November 27, 2002 I used the alarm this morning and was a bit surprised to find it only sounded once. However, on digging around, I managed to find a solution... In the profile settings, set 'Alarm Type' to 'increasing'. On my phone, the alarm now continues to sound. Dave.

You can actually ... just make a repeating appointment with yourself in your calendar :D
Guest ranz Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Hi guys, The alarm problem can be fixed through registry editor, i can't remember exactly where i saw the setting but you have to find the string value under alarm and set the "r0" value to the number of times you want it to repeat or something along those lines. all the best Ranz
Guest ranz Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 ok guys i found it, courtesy of Midnight... Looping Alarm Want the Alarm to loop indefinitely? (watch yer battery tho) Use a registry editor, go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER>ControlPanel>Sounds>Clock Select 'Values' Then select Menu>New Value>String Value Name: Script Value Data (for no vibrate): apr or Value Data (with vibrate): av0pr If you want to add a delay between each ring add 'w(delay)' before the r(repeat), for example: av0pw3r would have a vibrating alarm with a 3 second wait before looping the ringtone (both wav or midi) If you want to revert back to the normal alarm ring then simply delete the 'Script' value.
Guest HelloDave Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 My alarm is set to "increasing" and that keeps repeating until you turn it off. Good to get you up, but very annoying when you really don't want to get out of bed - I keep my SPV on it's cradle accross the room, and my alarm sound is a loud buzzer, which is impossible to sleep through!
