Guest Skitals Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 I realize that the two have slightly different target audiences, but they have the same general functions. Mobile phone, multitasking OS with 3rd party software support, pda functions, wireless, etc. They both have their pluses and minuses. The ppcpe can be too big to carry all the time and a sp can be too limited for some uses. Im really not partial to one of the other. You hear a lot of pros and cons for each... but heres one I thought of and hadnt heard mentioned before. I was just riding in the passenger seat of the car. All our cars are lowered and dont have the smoothest ride :) My brother was driving and I was playing a game on my smartphone. Toki Tori to be exact (this game rocks). I was enjoying myself, and just beat a level I had been stuck on for a while. It reminded me of a past experience. I recalled sitting in the same seat with the same bumpy ride a year before playing a game on my pocket pc. It was just about unusable. Go over an imperfection in the road and I tap the screen to hard, and Im trying to keep my hands steady. It just doesnt work out and turns into a chore. The same was true riding the subway and trying to use of pocket pc. Its just a very clumsy two handed operation that requires precisely tapping a delicate screen. It made me appreaciate my clamshell smartphone that much more. A connected device is meant to be used on the go. To me this includes walking down the street with one of my hands already occupied; riding on the awfully bumpy philly subway; and riding shotgun in one of my lowered cars.
