Guest paulmottley Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 Just a little survey to see who has and who hasn't, as I've just got on myself
Guest Vector Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 We've had it for over a year now :)
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 Same here. Just recently upgraded to AOL 1MB. The speed :!: Love it :)
Guest jackofall Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 Blueyonder 2MB here also a speed fan ;)
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 2MB must be kick ass - come on AOL - get a move on. Im crawling in comparison to 2mb :) :!:
Guest midnight Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 2mb bulldogdsl, 25 quid a month, it runs at 1/2meg 8am-6pm then 2mb all other times+weekend (was a special offer and so is more expensive now i believe
Guest Gorskar Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 Bulldog have some great packages, shame their coverage is quite limited. I got 512k ADSL, provided free from my work :) At my Mum's though (where I'm going for Christmas) its back down to horrible 56k.
Guest midnight Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 hehe, bulldogs coverage aint that bad now, i live in a pretty small town in the mifddle of nowhere and can get it :) i'm within 1/2 mile of my exchange which helps
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 NTL 600k does me fine :) I could never go back to 56k though.
Guest stevewright Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 I've got the Tiscali 150K package. Sounds (and is) so much slower than you people's 2MB connection, but compared to 56K, web surfing is SOOOO much better!
Guest paulmottley Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 I'm on Tiscali's 256k for £19.99/month- can't fault it!
Guest Isa Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 It's not fair, I can't get it
Guest Brody Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 150k at home (stuck with that whilst i'm home for Christmas!) and 600k at uni :) (ntl)
Guest kevlar Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 I have NTL 1MB, but I'm going to drop back to 600k, the difference just isn't worth it unless you are downloading lots of movies etc ( which I'm now bored of, and not happy with the movie quality most of the time, get a DVD writer and a Blockbuster membership! :) ). 600k should be fast enough for most people. Kevlar
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 get a DVD writer and a Blockbuster membership! :D Â ) I hear that one lol :) Thinking of dropping 1mb connection for Blueyonder 2mb as with AOL there is a 10 day trial period before you start paying extra for the 1mb service and my 12month contract for broadband is almost up so maybe it makes sense.
Guest superkingdave Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 i have only one friend in the 'not yet' category :D oh well getting broadband and wifi at the end of jan :)
Guest sponge Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 I've been on Blueyonder 2mb for a while now and absolutely love it. £50 a month isn't cheap, but it is good vfm and I do have 3 PCs and an XBox using it. :D (Plus I download lots of stuff :) ) But if all you do is surf the net and play the odd game, there isn't much point going over 1mb.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Got ntl 512k back in October 2001, can't fault it. When i moved out in Sept 2002 i had 2meg adsl from Pipex, now i'm back on 600k at home and dialup at uni :)
Guest [email protected] Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 Jeez, what do you guys consider broadband? :) I've got ADSL at 8 Mbit downstream and 1 Mbit upstream.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 Ah but where do you live? Bet you didnt have BT dragging their heels and trying to convince the entire country and the government that no-one wanted high-speed internet. ;p It takes 150 people to say "we'll buy adsl" before BT even consider upgrading their exchange...
Guest paulmottley Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 Monolithix, Does that mean your exchange isn't triggered yet?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 Nope, so we got cable from NTL instead :) The exchange my girlfriend uses was only activated at the end of November though.
Guest paulmottley Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 We live just off the road, so when they came to put in the cable they just went right by and missed out the 5 houses where we are. Gits!
Guest [email protected] Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 I live in Sweden and here ADSL at 8 Mbit down and 1 Mbit up is average bandwidth in cities. In cities 26 Mbit VDSL (both ways) is being rolled out by a few ISP's. However VDSL is very sensitive to cable length, 0-300 mtrs 26 Mbit, 300-1000 mtrs 13 Mbit and so on... In other words, if you get 26 Mbits you're next door to the phoneline hub.
