Guest skyrine Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 help. i've got my e200 paired with my laptop. the bluetooth dongle is a penblue 40m job. i've got the virtual serial port set to com 4, the activesync to com 4, local services to com 4 and client to com 5 as 4 isn't an option. the boxes are checked. i'm a technospaz, get me out of this cycle of changing settings please. :? i keep getting the following error message when i try to active sync from the phone "unable to connect, verify dial up or proxy settings are correct" any help much appreciated. hi peeps. just got my e200. apart from the bluetooth it is fantastic 8) i can not get the BT to work, same symptoms as bikespod. i can pair the phone and either of my computers with bluetooth, but both coment that the device is not responding if i try and query any of its services. one pc has a TDK pcmcia bluetooth card, latest drivers. the other has an EIO wavelinker bluetooth USB dingle, latest drivers. i do not know if it is relevant, but i can not get DSU.exe "Smartphone Configuration Wizard" to find my phone via BT or USB-Sync cable/cradle. i am wondering if this is relavent as it describes itself as some form of setup for connectivity... I have tried looking at th MS and O sites, but both claim that 2003 is not avaiable in UK yet !!!!!!! My phone describes her self as MS Windows powered smartphone 2003 Version 4.20.00 (Build 13288) Rom update 1.1.1.4 Manufacurer 1.6.0.0 MS 4.20.13288.0 Lang 1.6.0.0 just i case there are different version out there. forgive any overt newbieness, for i am   I am computer literate, so some of this IS sinking in  i have re-posted this as a new topic as no one responded to th eperevious post  at least post to say ' hello, i cant help you " !!!
Guest walibe Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 You are not alone, I am deperatly trying to make this work. Both my laptop and mobile will bond just fine, and all my ports are set up (serial being port 6) but active sync just doesn't want to know. No connections occur.
Guest mdw_cubed Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 You are not alone, I am deperatly trying to make this work. Both my laptop and mobile will bond just fine, and all my ports are set up (serial being port 6) but active sync just doesn't want to know. No connections occur. When you bonded the E200 did you answer "no" to the question "This device supports headset profile...." bit, I initially answered 'Yes', without really reading the message (a bit to eager  ). I rebonded answering "No" and ActiveSync then worked straightaway. Maybe this will work for you. BTW I followed the instructions in an article on CoolSmartphone. see Bluetooth! E200? How?
Guest sponge Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 I ditched the orange and dongle manual and used the guide. Now it works! Posted from my SmartPhone, via BT, using my PC's internet connection.
Guest walibe Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 "This device supports headset profile...." I was not asked this question
Guest mdw_cubed Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 "This device supports headset profile...." I think the CoolSmartPhone notes I refered to in a previous post do mention that you may not get the "This device supports headset profile...." message. :? The only other thing I think I did, but I'm not absolutely sure, is remove the "Bluetooth Serial Port" from the "Client Applications" tab of the Bluetooth Configuration dialog. I think mine has a port bound to COM5, where as the "Bluetooth Serial Port" is "My Bluetooth PlacesMy Device" was set to COM4. (Which I think is the same as "Bluetooth Serial Port" on the "Local Services" tab of the Bluetooth Configuration dialog. I also made sure that ActiveSync was using COM4 and initiated the link from ActiveSync on the E200 using the "Connect via Bluetooth" option on the menu, I couldn't get ActiveSync to find the E200 from my PC.
Guest skyrine Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 hmmm, this gives me a few thing to try.....
Guest walibe Posted December 25, 2003 Report Posted December 25, 2003 After updating Windows XP to service pack 1, removing and re installing USB and bluetooth drivers (and managment software) my PC has finally active synced with my PC via bluetooth. Only problem left is the phone won't browse useing the DSL on my PC but I'm sure I can sort this with some playing around. PJ
Guest skyrine Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 well, what a knightmare. i have finally got my e200 connectected to my laptop via bluetooth W00t w00t !! it does a sync and i can browse the phone !! Fantastic :) 8) It took a phenominal amount of re-configuring, i have no idea what the pivotal factor was, but i spent hours pouring over every guide & how-to i could lay my hads on but now the oddities start .. :? My laptop connects to my lan via a bluetooth pcmcia card that is bonded with a bluetooth bridging point. ( like a bluetooth ethernet card ). the bluetooth bridge is connected to a lan port on my broadband router. i can make a connection from the pcmcia card to the bridge and browse. or i can connect my e200 to my laptops pcmcia card. i can not do both though !! ah well, i will have to make do with one or the other.. but it does mean i can not browse the internet while the phone is connected, and naturally, cannot browse from the phone at all via bluetooth. things are not ment to be this complicated, i have been a good boy, honest
Guest keni Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 OK, so after reading this When you bonded the E200 did you answer "no" to the question "This device supports headset profile...." bit, I initially answered 'Yes', without really reading the message (a bit to eager ). I rebonded answering "No" and ActiveSync then worked straightaway. Maybe this will work for you. BTW I followed the instructions in an article on CoolSmartphone. see Bluetooth! E200? How? I tried it, and by jolly hockey sticks it works!! NICE! So, my advice to you is 'Just say No!'
Guest keni Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 :@ Spoke to soon, as soon as I try to reconnect this morning, nothing! :) But one thing I have noticed whilst a lot of messing about I get a strange thing happening to me menus. In Active Sync the menu order keeps changing! One time its 3 for Active Sync over BlueTooth, then its 4! Whats going on there?
Guest keni Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Ok, so I nearly connect but I keep getting this error box from Active Sync. Now here is the wierd thing, on my bosses old 3870 he too gets the same error box which means he can't Sync with his pc! So this must be an Active Sync application problem, right? Any ideas people?ERROR.gif
Guest skyrine Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 is this the error from insatalling the usb cradle and activesync the wrong way round ?
Guest keni Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 is this the error from insatalling the usb cradle and activesync the wrong way round ? That as it maybe, but I don't have a USB cable for my E200! And I get this error! Going to look on other sites. K

I got this box a few mins ago, I think it was because I set the serial port in ActiveSync to COM6, which is the SSA port, not COM5 which is the BT serial port. I've just tried pairing and unpairing until it worked. TIP!! Switch BT on on the phone then go back to the homescreen before you try to pair from the PC, otherwise you seem to miss the "device supports headset profile" message.

Bingo Bango. Thats the ticket O yeah and many other things I can think of to say that it worked!! :) And I found out how to send Contacts via BT today too. :D:D:D:D Happy days
