Guest jawane Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 EDIT Warning awarner One important thing to be careful of though, If you removed the SD card and the phone was to ring and it needs the tone it may well crash. Worse case senario is the phone may need a Hard Reset to recover. EDIT Warning By Midnight This tweak was found over 6 months ago, and was found to be severely flawed, the main flaw being that if you go into sounds after doing this tweak the phone locked up, and it was common for the phone to hard reset itself, and was the reason it hasnt been mentioned since. Oh, and another thing, with the original tweak contacts dont have to be on the SIM card. I had this reset my phone several times in testing. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED I HAVE FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT. 01. FIRST CREATE A FOLDER ON THE SD CARD NAMED SOUNDS 02. COPY ALL THE SOUNDS FROM WINDOWS TO THIS FOLDER (FOR YOUR ALARM SETTINGS AND SYSTEM SOUNDS) 03. PLACE YOU CUSTOM RINGTONES IN THIS FOLDER 04. OPEN YOUR REGISTRY EDITOR, GO TO CURRENT USER CONTROL PANEL SOUND CATEGORIES 05. HERE YOU NEED TO CHANGE ALL THE DIRECTORY VALUES FROM WINDOWS TO STORAGE CARDSOUNDS 06. NEXT YOU MUST COPY ALL CONTACTS YOU WANT TO HAVE A CUSTOM RING TO YOUR SIM CARD. 07. SELECT CUSTOM RINGTONES FOR CONTACTS AND BA-DA-BING BA-DA-BOOM! PRETTY GOOD FOR A FIRST POST BY AN AMERICAN NEWBIE
Guest Shuflie Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 Not a bad effort for a first post, for your second and subsequent ones though can you try it with the CAPSLOCK off :D It really pisses off some people here, including a moderator who will remain unnamed. (unless he jumps in a gives you a warning :) )
Guest the-jackal Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 How do i open My Registry editor?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 jawane nice guide :D It's an old fix but will make this a sticky for this section. One inportant thing to be careful of though, on the SPV etc if you removed the SD card and the phone was to ring and need the tone it may well crash. http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...ound+categories the-jackal Use PHMRegedit from www.monolithix.org And shuflie members are asked not to shout, but they are not given a warning for it unless they don't listen :)
Guest the-jackal Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 Cheers. Will give it a go.Cool problem now is my phone says not a valid windows CE application.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 Did you download directly from mono's site or linked from it? Here's the direct link http://www.thunderstats.com/download.cgi?h...t.Stngr_ARM.zip Also remember if you are in the UK and an Orange customer you will need to deceert your phone first.
Guest coyspiracy Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 isnt there any other way?, this is crashing my phone. we need some kind of program.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 I have not tried Jeyo in this but the warnings above would still be the same.
Guest k2bk2bk2b Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 So the whole objective is not to remove the sd/mmc card while the fone is on. and as well not to on the phone without the same sd/mmc card inside. another simple way for those who have more than 1 sd/mmc. u can still put the same tones in both mmc/sd? then no matter what the connection for the tones will always be there. and u wont have to worry abt phone crashing?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 Also do not let the battery drain too low as the card will stop being read.
Guest joerghenke Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 only make a folder on the storage card called "My Documents" copy your ringtones on this folder, that's it... no reg. edit...
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 only make a folder on the storage card called "My Documents" copy your ringtones on this folder, that's it... no reg. edit... That does not work for custom ringtones.
Guest ez_does_it Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 Actually yes, placing your custom midi/wav ringtones in the My Documents folder in the memory storage does work. When you place the wav files in there, then they appear as options when you go to settings/sounds, and select which sounds you want to assign for misc. functions.
Guest shimmip Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Yes, it's common knowledge you can do this with standard sounds, but this thread is about custom ring tones - individual, contact by contact ring tones that you can assign in the contact details and you then get when that person rings. When choosing these you do NOT get presented with the sounds you have stored on the SD card. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest nathansmith Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 hi dudes. just got mpx have some wavs and i've already tried the 'My Documents' folder but when i put the wavs in it & select then as tones they just beep and dont select. when you get a call afterwards it rings as the standard tone. any suggestions, haven't unlocked the phone yet and i don't fancy openenin the reg edit if can avoid it.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 The files you are selecting are not compatable, hence the beep. WAVs need be formatted PCM 22,050 Hz, 8 Bit, Mono Windows Sound Recorder can convert to this for you.
Guest coyspiracy Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 what about for WM2003? ringtones off sd card..is it possible?
Guest T-BoNe Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Could someone please clarify step number 6 of this tutorial? I do not understand this step. Copy contacts to sim card?

Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 Are they tones that have worked before? If not are they encoded correctly?

Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest DigitalPimp Posted August 15, 2004 Report Posted August 15, 2004 How come when I try to use a .wma as a personal ringtone it says "This ring tone is not working properly? You may want to choose a different one to use." Any body come across this?
