Guest hardysmith Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 I've been testing out the bluetooth functionality on my SPV E200. I have sucessfully set everything up that I can use activesync from the E200 to my PC (easy when you know how!). Anyway, I have found that the operational range of the bluetooth on the E200 is only about 1 to 2 metres. Any further and it doesn't work. I've been using two different models of Belkin USB/Bluetooth adaptors. One was the 10m model and the other the 100m model. Interestingly, neither of them made any difference to the range of the E200, which leads me to believe that the weak link in the chain here is the E200 bluetooth. To get a "good" signal, I have to position the E200 within 1 metre of the USB/bluetooth device. Has anybody else found this to be the case? Don't even try using the E200 in a different room from the othre bluetooth device. I suspect that the bluetooth range on the E200 has been designed to be within a couple of metres, because most people will just use bluetooth headsets. I had hoped to get around 10 metres, but I'm nowhere near. It''s an expensive option to use bluetooth if you only get 1,2 or 3 metres at most. Still...it does work and active sync works perfectly (once it has been set up correctly).
Guest pisquee Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 Maybe they reduced the range because a biger range (higher power signal) would have crippled the battery life even more.
