Guest chefgage Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 for some reason i am having trouble deleting mp3's of my storage card what is the proper way to do this thanx if you can help
Guest Bonzo Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 I just delet them using the 'explore' feature of active sync on the PC... but U do have to make sure that Media player on the phone is not active in the background or the last track played when U try and delete it may well throw up a sharing violation :)
Guest chefgage Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 i think the problem was that the mp3 i was trying to delete was in use, i can delete every mp3 apart from 1, when i try to delete this one i get the error message "cannot delete file...make sure your mobile device has suffient memory, that the file is not read only and you have permission to copy this type of file"
Guest Bonzo Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 Yep that would be the kind of error message U would get if it's in use alright... U just need to shut down the media player using a task manager and U should be OK to delete it :)
Guest MPXtricky Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 if that still doesn't work (DOOM gave me awful problems earlier tonight) then turn the phone off and on again and you should have hassle-free delete. Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 To add to this any information in resident memory cannot be deleted until you have rebooted the phone.
Guest MPXtricky Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 ...and don't forget to ensure the 'write protect' switch on the side of the SD card is in 'write' position. The modern equivalent of the plastic ring used in old mainframe tapes when processing read-only files. Yes, I spent time on the night shift in the machine room...zzzzzzzzz
