Guest chefgage Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 what is the biggest size sd card you can get
Guest nickcornaglia Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 512MB There are 1GB cards coming out if they are not out already and already larger one's in the works.
Guest Franctic Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 Is there a limit to the size of an SD card you can have in an SPV?
Guest Vector Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 Nope, i don't think so....... :)
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 Can someone give me a simple explanation of what an SD card is made of and how you can store 512MB on the same size card as your 256MB jobbie. Before you start, can I just say that my first year uni computer course involved punching holes in cards and taking them to the nice lady  What I'm trying to understand is the pricing I suppose
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 The pricing is mainly down to paying for development costs, ie the latest size cards are the most recent advances in technology so the initial price is also higher. There is also the old supply and demand that can keep the price high.
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 What'a actually inside that plastic sleeve ? Magnetic metal disc ? Just wondering how you 'physically' put twice as much data on the same size card :?:
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 SD (Secure Digital) memory cards are the latest generation memory devices that offer an incredible combination of high storage capacity, fast data transfer rates, great flexibility and excellent security in a memory card about the size of a postage stamp! Based on nonvolatile memory components and encased in a protective molding they do not require power to retain the information stored on them. Since they are based on solid-state components they have no moving parts to skip or break down making them highly reliable. As for the twice the memory this is simply down to new technology and components getting small etc.
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 Cheers :) I must do some reading on this. Back on topic, is anyone using the 1GB cards yet ?
