Guest martin Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 What were the settings that Vodaphone gave you ? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest ro66ie49 Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 Hi the settings i was given are. homepage http:wap.e-merge.ie dial up no +3538792292222. ip address 10 24 59 100 user name dublin password dublin bben trying fo months to connect to internet no luck thanks
Guest martin Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 I would try something like this to start with. Programs- Settings - Data Connections Create proxy connection Description: Vodafone Proxy Connects from: The Internet Connects to: WAP Network Proxy(name:port): 10.24.59.100 Type: WAP user name: Password : Create CSD dial-up connection Description: Vodafone CSD Connects to: The Internet Country code: 353 Dialling code: 8 Phone number: 72292222 User name : dublin Password: dublin Domain: In Data connection Internet Connection: Vodafone CSD WAP connection: Vodafone CSD In Internet Explorer make tick 'auto detect settings' Hopefully you should be able to connect to sites using the dialup. Try accessing wsp://www.google.com/wml and then http://www.google.com/wml Do any (or both) of them connect ? Also do you have GPRS enabled ? (is the top centre G displayed on your phone) If it is then you could try using the GPRS connection instead. Create GPRS connection Description: Vodafone GPRS Connects to: The Internet Access point: wap.vodafone.ie username: password: Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 IP address:
Guest ro66ie49 Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 have tried all that but same thing is happening not sure but i think it has something to do with password when i go back in to setting password symbols as shown are longer.*****
Guest martin Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 It's normal for the password to be shown as a larger number of * characters than the original password. Just noticed something  The number you have written down +3538792292222 which is not the WAP dialup as it belongs to a subscriber. Is that number just a miss type ? The WAP dialup number is 353872292222
Guest ro66ie49 Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 That was mistype i have right phone no checked it all with vodafone. i have some movement im geetting 2 arrows on right side of top screen and windows motif then a page pops up saying the page you are looking for cannot be displayed im also getting another screen up telling me my login information is wrong
Guest ro66ie49 Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 im now getting a screen with gprs on and windows motif waving and its dialing but is dialing all the time wont stop
Guest martin Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 I've just remembered something than can cause problems. Go to the MSN Messenger options and edit the passport. If its ticked to 'run program when connection is available' then untick it. This can be trying to open an internet connection when at the same time you are trying to open a WAP connection. If you continue to get problems try deleting ALL (dial-up, proxy and GPRS) connections and recreating them. This will clear out and update the registry settings for these connections.
Guest martin Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 Here's something else to try  Check this post by dau. http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=99139 Just goto WAP settings and enter Ireland -Vodaphone for MPX200 (all smartphone 2002 setups are the same) and have the GSM WAP and GPRS WAP settings sent directly to your phone. I just tried it and it send the settings OK:D (whether they work or not is a different matter :) )
Guest martin Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 I've just tried to connect using GSM WAP from the download settings and it worked :) . Managed to Dial in to Vodafone WAP service and connected to wap.e-merge.ie In IE I had to untick auto detect and select WAP Network. Did you get it working OK ? Have you also tried GPRS WAP ? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest ro66ie49 Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 no luck cleaned all connections out went to that site got settings sent no luck done it again and the phone is saying unable to place call.im trying a different sim card o2 see how i get on with that if no luck will give up as there has to be something wrong with phone will be going uk end of jan will take it with me and see if i can get someone to look at it for me. i really appreciate your help thanks vey much very helpful on this site thanks again :)
Guest ro66ie49 Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 Hi back again tried o2 sim had settings sent still no luck getting the gprs sign coming up and windows banner waving and its telling me its dialing then a message comes up saying the page you are looking for cannot be found dosent matter what page i put in getting same message.think i will give it up as a bad job thanks again for your help. ps i do know internet works as when i go to uk i have no probs connecting to internet.
Guest martin Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 I haven't a clue why its not working. I am on a different network and I can still dial in to the Vodafone WAP routers and access wap.e-merge.ie so it should have definitely worked for you. I decided to delete everything and then manually input only the vodafone settings for the GSM dialup to WAP and again it worked  This is what I did EXACTLY. Programs- Settings - Data Connections Create proxy connection Description: Vodafone Proxy Connects from: The Internet Connects to: WAP Network Proxy(name:port): 10.24.59.100:9201 Type: WAP user name: Password : Create CSD dial-up connection Description: Vodafone CSD Connects to: The Internet Country code: 353 Dialling code: 0 Phone number: 872292222 User name : dublin Password: dublin Domain: You need to add the dialling code 0 to allow the creation of the dialup connection but then re-edit the connection and delete the 0 leaving only Country code=353, Dialling code =(blank) and Phone number=8722922. In Data connection make 'WAP connection: Vodafone CSD' In Internet Explorer make untick 'auto detect settings' and make 'Select Network: WAP network' In internet Explorer delete the history under Menu-Options - Memory and see if that helps. Try Accessing wap.e-merge.ie (this directs you to wsp://10.162.224.70/) and also I can access www.google.com/wml If it still fails then maybe you do have a faulty phone
Guest ro66ie49 Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 Hi its working :) thanks a million been trying for months to get it going on and off your one in a million.done everything you told me to the letter then i went to connect same thing cant find page was just giving up when i just pressed tha liile plastic cap at the back of the spv and the screen changed telling me i was forbidden then i ttyped in google site and low and below it came up thanks again you might think im thick but how do you disconnect from internet thanks :D
Guest martin Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 Wahooo :)/ I knew it had to work :D You shouldn't get forbidden unless you are being denied access to a site. Was it wap.e-merge.ie that gave you this error ? It seems that when using the Vodafone GSM WAP dialup you are being resticted to WML (WAP) pages only  although this should still give you a great of content to look at. Try doing a search for WAP directories on the net for a list of WAP sites. To end a GSM dialup press the SPV red button. Also do you get the top centre G displayed when the phone is switched on ? If so you should try and access WAP sites using GPRS WAP. GPRS is recommended over GSM especially for WAP browsing. Create a GPRS connection Description: Vodafone GPRS Connects to: The Internet Access point: wap.vodafone.ie username: password: Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 IP address: In Data connection make 'WAP connection: GPRS WAP' When connecting using GPRS a small G should show (top right) instead of the 2 arrows.
Guest ro66ie49 Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 Reason i got that forbidden was that i was trying to get to smartphone site. but when i put in google came up no bother and hotmail well i have gprs enabled on my sim card will try to set up gprs cant see any more problems now. turned off spv a couple of times and went on internet no bother.will get back to you in a couple of days let you know how its going. i found the spv book that came with it so i was able to turn it off. will save all these pages print them in case ever happens again thanks and merry xmas. ps just set up gprs the g is where the two arrows were so my problem is solved :) thanks
Guest ro66ie49 Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 Hi. back again tell me do you know the mms settings for smartphone? set it up tells me its connecting then sending appears then it keeps saying message failed to send. thanks
Guest martin Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 Try this for MMS :) Create Vodafone MMS connection Description: Vodafone MMS Connects to: MMS CONNECTION (or Orange MMS for SPV) Access point: mms.vodafone.net username: dublin password: dublin Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 IP address: Programs - Settings - MMS setup Header: Vodafone MMS IP: 10.24.59.200 Port: 9201 Mmsc http://www.vodafone.ie/mms If MMS fails with then check with Vodafone customer services that MMS service has been enabled on your account.
Guest ro66ie49 Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 Hi tell me where do i create mms is it dial up connections gprs connections indata connections. i know the second part of answer thanks
