Guest richardyates Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 I wouldn't know how to make use of this, but I have discovered some files on my e200 which are rather unusual. If I look at the directory of my phone using activesync via my PC, then I can't see any files relating to simlocking in the windows directory If I look at the same directory using smart explorer on my phone itself however, there are three more files visible: Simlock.exe simlock.exe.040c.MUI Simlock.exe.0413.MUI These all have the following properties: Read-only, Hidden, system,in rom, encrypted and rom module ticked I can't change any of these properties because they are in rom, nor can I delete the files, but I can't help thinking this may be the route to unlocking the phone - I hope someone has better brains to apply to it than I do!!!
Guest hulk2 Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 I'm in the same conditions please help us
Guest stohn Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 Hi this is the UI component to display simlock dialog on windows only. The real simlock is on "co-processor" (which run's NUCLEUS REALTIME OS - UNIX!!!) So deletion of this file will not help anything... Maik
Guest hulk2 Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 Where are the modaco genius?? Any news about the sim-unlock?? thanks
Guest soperjon Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 Just noticed that the guys at XDA Developer have release a utility ! It can't be that different for the E200 can it
Guest hulk2 Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 where can i read something?' thanks
Guest lonegunman Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Well I d/l the xda2 unlock program and it sort of works, well you get xda2unlock on the screen which is more than the old unlock program used to do, so it on the right track just needs a bit of work doing for the e200 I guess.
Guest hulk2 Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 i do not understand this unlock run or not onthe E200 thanks
Guest lonegunman Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 It does not unlock the e200, it will unlock the xda2.
Guest peekie Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 if you open the simlock exe with smart explorer you get the screen asking for the network code and the only way to get past that point is to take off the battery. its funny that orange have simlocks on contrct phones made by themselfs on a pay as you go you can understand it ,if you get say a nokia its simlock free so why the spv ,as if you have a contract for a year you will pay for the phone ](*,)
Guest dvl Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 hmmm any luck anyone? i am taking 2 phones with me now haha one for my telfort provider and the SPV with an orange prepaid card.. hmmmmm must be possible for someone to get around that sim lock thingy?? what this thing about unix on the co processor? LOL
Guest lonegunman Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 This is what I have seen and read so far on a few forums, HTC have make the unlocking a dam sight harded. All I want to say is, that HTC build a complete new SIMLOCK mechanism for new smartphone device called E200/QTEK8080 which is not breakable easily. We already read ROM content with encrypted simlock and imei area but without encryption algorithm we can do nothing (in old devices simlock code was plaintext added a fixed value to make it "unreadable") But now it is a 32k encrypted block. So my suggestion to XDA-developers is to disassemble GSM-ROM (HTC left many of debug info in there - hehe) and patch validation of Simunlock code verification.... (copied form a post on the xda forum). Now take from that as you like, but look's like a free tool is miles away.
Guest dvl Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004  heard on GSM forum that a tool is almost ready and should be around sooooon and freeeeeeee lets see who posts it first.. Modaco or GSM-forum 8)
Guest KBA Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 Hi... I need a unlock NOW!!! Thanks KBA
Guest peekie Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 so do alot of people is just a matter of time remember if a programme is made ( simlock ) there is a way to break it ,if you cant wait then there is one other option but it costs ORANGE
Guest peekie Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 WHERE it will be posted will depend on how the unlock works look at the disable security item because it used copyrighted material it was removed from this site , although still to be found on other spv sites it will be interesting when, whos the first ???? and how quick it might disapear
Guest dvl Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 ahhh taking it away.. hmmm so far as i know simunlocking is still not illegal in holland. so if there is a patch or program to simunlock the E200 i offer my server to host it!! DvL
Guest lonegunman Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 Sim unlocking in the UK is not illegal, but it the files that are used as peekie says, anyway just wait and one will be out, my guessing is just after the first udate for the E200 as then the programers will know how all the right commands to send to the phone to get the right info, odds are someone is halfway to doing one.
