Guest np27np27 Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 I cant get midis to play on my mpx200! I've cut them to small sizes, converted them to midi0 and still the damn things wont play!!!! Anyone got any ideas!! This is driving me nuts!
Guest Exodia Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 I had the same problem. I gave up and started using wav files, they sound better anyway. :)
Guest np27np27 Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 Yeah but .wavs are big files and i have limited storage! Anyone suggest another program for converting midis to midi0 apart from mid converter cos i already used that and no luck! TIA :)
Guest stevenwross Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 http://www.midconverter.com/ Worked for me. 30 day trial version.
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 Where are you guys getting the MIDIs from ? Any chance of posting them up here :?: :)
Guest np27np27 Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 just search on google for midis. and i said apart from mid converter!!!
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 Have YOU tried searching Google for converters ? It's a haystack for the uninitiated like me..... ........as it is looking for free MIDI ringtones. There are some DOS converters at www.converters.tk but that's out of my league :?
Guest np27np27 Posted December 25, 2003 Report Posted December 25, 2003 yes I have tried searching google for converters and found nothing but s***. google is always my first attempt! and i have found plenty of sites to download midis from. try being very specific in your search such as "midis" and "type of music your into" or "name of song or artist". e.g midis hip hop midis tupac :)
Guest np27np27 Posted December 25, 2003 Report Posted December 25, 2003 oh i forgot to say........ there are alot of midis on the coolsmartphone.com website. you need to register to access the downloads section.
Guest Jerome! Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 Cubase SX... the best way to edit MIDI's is with this program. A little bit expensive, though.
Guest HurricaneDave Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 http://www.mididb.com/ for free midis
Guest worms Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 I had the same probs with me old Sagem myx-5,found that (cool edit pro) is a top audio prog....just do a search for it on TUCOWS or google.... and a patch for the time limited version is also available online. Tinpan Midis clowns midis :) some nice midis there. Remember and virus scan all downloads B4 ya send em on to your phone.
Guest np27np27 Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 Thanks for the suggestions folks but i have decided to use wavs instead now! Sounds much better!
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 Yeah, I'm going that way too myself. :D The main problem is the limited tonal range (?) of the phones. Most of the MIDIs on the internet have bass and drum sounds that the phone can't handle so a lot of conversions end up silent. The ones on coolsmartphone have been recorded specifically for phone use and you need a simple but striking synth riff to make it work. I've used that guy's Prodigy ringtones - the Break & Enter motif is the best. We need a MIDI composer with SmartPhone sympathies and unfortunately that's not me  There is an application in the pipeline though I believe. :)
