firmware upgrade failure...

Recommended Posts

I tried to upgrade the firmware on my brand new Qtek 8080 and failed!

Now the phone boots up at the red, green, blue bootloader screen.

When I try the upgrade again I get a message on the PC saying:

Checking the information on your smartphone.... please wait...

After about 30 seconds the screen on the phone becomes white and then... nothing...

Everything hangs. Both the PC and the phone.

Any ideas on how I can revive it from a SD/MMC card maybe?

Thanks

Welcome to the site :)

Just checking you have an 8080 and not a 7070?

if so what upgrade are you talking about and where did you get it from?

as the only update one I know of is for the 7070 which is a different OS

to the 8080.

7070 = Smartphone 2002

8080 = Smartphone 2003

Yes it is a 8080 and the firmware is 1.07.14.

Apparently it doesn't work very well cause it screwed up my 8080.

I just used it for 10 minutes and then I thought I should upgrade to the latest version to make all my settings.

Right now the phone just boots up to the 3 colored lines. I tried the hard reset by choosing 8 but still it just comes up to the 3 colored lines.

When I try to upgrade I get a white screen on the phone and the pc is still checking the information....

I have tried this on 3 different PCs (2 with XP and one with Win2k)

Any ideas? (I have a 256MB MMC card so if there are any instructions on how to do this via MMC would be great help)

Where is this latest version from?

The reason I'm asking is as far as I'm aware there are NO upgrades for the 8080 model of phone at the moment as they have only just been released.

Yes got it from Dangaard.

I can't provide you with any links as this was on a private ftp server.

I can give you though the filenames of all the versions located there for all the qteks..

Apart from re-running the update,

The only thing I can suggest is to contact Dangaard and explain the problem as they may have a dodgy release.

I had a second 8080 and used usbterm to put the software on MMC.

I put it back on the faulty 8080 and immediately the phone asked me to press enter to start the upgrade.

The upgrade finished ok and got the phone back to working.

I got two firmwares from dangaard. One was 1.07.10 and the other 1.07.17.

Both of them failed to work. I have contacted them and I'm expecting an answer hopenfully tomorrow....

Is there a way to format my MMC now so that I can use it on both my 8080 and my mmc reader?

It seems that the mmc reader doesn't want to read it and when i put a mp3 file on the card using activesync the phone doesn't recognize it and screws up the characters.

Any ideas?

You need to re-format the MMC after putting a bootloader on it as it's a

different format. Either use a card reader to do this or better still the

excellent Task Manager
