Guest jim.mason Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 After doing a hard reset to remove the snail-like mms software, i have been getting strange readings from the system info programme when charging the battery. For example, the phone has been plugged in all morning (+4hrs) and is still showing only 78% from just over 40%. However, when i removed the phone from the cradle, the meter showed 86%. Anyone else had this??????????
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 Try using binarys Task Manager and see what it shows, available from www.monolithix.org There has been other posts about the battery playing up causing the phone to be stuck on the moto splash screen, just wondering if this could be the start of it?
Guest dshaugney Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 I get the same but no probs with the moto splash screen. I doubt it has anything to do with with jMMS. I think there is a large quantity of faulty batteries. Lithium Ion batteries do not suffer from the "memory" effect. The memory effect is a problem of old batteries when you charge them the first time to say 50% and it remembers that as its max capacity. These motorola batteries show signs of the "memory" effect - and somehow it is being refelcted as weird readings on the battery meter.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 It's more dodgy circuitry in the battery rather than the memory effect.
Guest scott2eyes Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 It sounds more like a software thing to me- like the reading you're getting from the battery is actually from a check done a couple of hours ago, then when you unplug it, the software checks the battery and presto! it's got an extra 10%. But then again, I don't know nuthin' about nuthin'...
