Guest mike-oh Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 This morning i found that my headset was knackered and only the right earpiece is working. It's that upgrade time of year again but i was gonna hold out with my old spv for a while longer and see if anything better pops up cos there really isn't anything wrong with it except the odd scratch and bit off dust. Now that my headset is knackered (listening to *.wmas is the only thing that helps me survive the daily commute!!) i'm gonna go and get my well earnt upgrade and change my tariff too. Soo what should it be.....? The quite standard yet solid MXP200 or buggy, crap sounding yet feature rammed SPVe200? I would wait for the mythical MXP220 but "1st quarter 2004" is far too vague to rely upon. And a few quick questions whilst i'm at it. How does the Mpx200 differ from the original spv other than clamshell and better screen? Is it available in silver? Can u play music on it through the speaker? Will my existing games eg; snails, toki tori work on it? Can you still active sync etc? Anything anyone else would like to add?
Guest ifgy Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 I really hate the design of the Moto. I'm recieving my E200 the 25th, so I've basically based my vote merely upon the design of the phones ..
Guest Vector Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 If you want the bluetooth, sp2003, inbuilt camera go for E200 if you don't care about those and just want a standard Smartphone with 2002 software, go for MPX200 :)
Guest beersoft Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 the moto is a great phone it has everything the spv has and more. battery life, less bugs, better screen, build quality and the wife likes it later owen
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 Pah ! MPx200 :) An SPV rolled up in a clamshell. Get yourself the E-200. I think Orange have realised the headset problem now and an update is round the corner. ENd of January Im guessing. Like Davidrm said, Wm2003, Bluetooth, Camera .net framework (:!:D what more could you want from a mobile :?: :!: I hope that you've returned with the E-200  :!:
Guest mike-oh Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 Pah ! MPx200 :) An SPV rolled up in a clamshell. You say that like it's a bad thing?! Don't worry i've not gone yet!! This is being really helpful tho. Cheers
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 It is :!: Of course you CAN say that about the E-200 (SPV with NEW features) which it has as mentioned above. The camera is soooo handy - im going to upload all my clips after new year - ive got some absolute howlers :!: The bluetooth for my PocketPC syncing and a more stable operating system :!: Do whats right Mike, do whats right lol :)
Guest Vector Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 The camera is very handy like spacecowboy said :D plus i am not a fan of flips phones, that also swayed me, yes the E200 has a few bugs , but so far they haven't bothered me at all. Alot of them will probably be ironed out with an update to.... PS: the buzzing some people have with E200, i only just get it, but only when i call 123 answerphone or something and it isn't enough to stop me from hearing the electronic lady :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 The MPX rocks and it's faster than the E200 :)/
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 But lacks bluetooth and camera. Of course, unless you want the SD card-cam :)
Guest sabio_proeliat Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 Is the moto faster then e200? And I thought the screen was better on e200 then the one on MPx200?
Guest ChrisJM Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 yea it is, the e200 is a better all rounder IMHO   so DEFENTLY get 1 of them
Guest Vector Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 Is the moto faster then e200? And I thought the screen was better on e200 then the one on MPx200? apparently it is according to awarner :D there is a BIG speed increase from SPV>SPVE200 :) and the E200 is better than Moto i think .... apparently the Moto screen is darker
Guest ChrisJM Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 so wat phone u got/getting :?:
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 Screen is only dark on the moto if you hold the phone wrong :) and the speed was benchmarked as faster :D
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 He's gone to the pub instead :) What am I doing here ? I'm off too !
Guest mike-oh Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 :) Yeah! Errr i dunno now!i'll probably go into leeds and do a bit of bartering in an orange shop, have a play with them both and then decide. I can't see the results of the poll on here. You see...i'd like a clamshell phone but the mpx just aint that much different to my spv just better screen, more reliable etc. Whereas if you tried to add anymore features to e200 it would burst! AAARrghh! :confused and uncertain yet can't wait to try them both smiley: Hope everyone had a great christmas! Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest mike-oh Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 And i went for the....... MPx200! I think the design is good (key pad is a bit uninspired but very easy to use) and the build quality top notch! No fiddley little buttons anymore and i can't get the "is that an spv in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?" line cos it's diddy! Posted from my brand new SmartPhone!
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 Today is a sad day for us all .... Im taking bets now - between now and August you will have an E-200 :) Hope you can live without the feature packed E-200 :D spacecowboy
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 Should be getting my E200 when OCS reopen after the new year. The integrated camera is dead useful to me. Mike ; you weren't tempted to wait for the new Motorolas ? The MPx220 sounds exciting and I can't wait to see what the entry level one does =p~ Whatever, keep us informed with your impressions mate :)
Guest mike-oh Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 Sorry.... I'll just have to make do with my little, considerably less buggy, FREE (big factor) phone. :) Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest mike-oh Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 Yes i was very tempted by the newer models but because the release dates weren't set in stone i didn't think i'd risk it. If my headset hadn't knackered up on my old one i wouldn't have bothered upgrading just yet and would've held out for a little while longer. First impressions are good ones though! :) Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 Yeh, a big plus point is "free" :!: I mean, Im not doubting its a great piece of kit. Robust and very well made. The only reason I went for the E-200 was because of the news OS, Camera etc etc. But at least now you have a stable operating system that you can live with and a huge improvment in battery life :!: Lets be honest, all new Smartphones are brilliant so whichever you get just comes down to you own opinions and tastes :)
