Guest boutros Posted December 17, 2002 Report Posted December 17, 2002 Will it be possible for the SPV to charge while plugged into the USB cradle? I know that some peripherals are powered in that way. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything... PS. this phone is tha bomb! PPS. Copy a .wav file into the IPSMWindowsStartUp and it will play on powering up...
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted December 17, 2002 Report Posted December 17, 2002 Yes, plug the charger into the hole in the back of the cradle :D P
Guest boutros Posted December 17, 2002 Report Posted December 17, 2002 i feel... slightly daft! i didn't even look! Is it bad for the battery life if it is 'permanently' plugged in like that though?
Guest Torque_79 Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 Nope, the type of battery that comes with the SPV actually likes to be trickle carged. Unlike most rechargeable batteries, it will not benefit from being "used up" and then charged. Its best to keep it in the cradle, whenever you have the opportunity. Cheers
Guest casper508 Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 Hi, I pulled the charger cable from the cradle and the connection to the PC broke. Now thats kinda stupid ! Whats the purpose of a USB connection if it needs external power? Comments anyone ? Cas
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 This shouldn't happen? I've used the cradle fine without the charger plugged in? P
Guest budda Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 I've just got my hands on this SPV phone but am starting to lose patients with it. Hopefully it will turn me around within the 14 day Orange refund period :D Anyway, I can't get the damn phone to charge - or even acknowledge that it is connected to the mains (I presume it shows the plug icon in place of the battery meter) From what I've read on the forums the main power supply is required to make the phone operate with the PC - this is fine for me, I've sync'd all my contacts with Outlook XP flawlessly. Now my phone battery is nearly flat and it's not looking good..... :(
Guest casper508 Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 No thats not the case. My phone was just acting funny that day and being a M$ product, thats not unexpected. Meaning you DONT need power supply to link it to the PC. I cant really help you with the charging. Check the cables and the power supply. Thats all i can suggest. Cas
Guest budda Posted December 22, 2002 Report Posted December 22, 2002 I cant really help you with the charging. Check the cables and the power supply. Thats all i can suggest. After reading through the "bugs" forum it turns out its a documented feature :x grrrr...
Guest casper508 Posted December 23, 2002 Report Posted December 23, 2002 Where have you been looking mate?
Guest budda Posted December 23, 2002 Report Posted December 23, 2002 The bugs forum mentions it @ http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=951
