Guest bit slow Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 hi to all at this festive time.... my question is: for some reason since my 1.6 upgrade on the original spv. i can still copy a ringtone 'wav' from my storage card, by using the 'smart explorer' but cannot paste it into the sounds folder in the ipsm file, to use as a ring tone....? this is how i used to do it originaly... the main reason being is that i can no longer find the sounds folder in the ipsm folder.... :? any one got any idea why, or has it had it's folder name changed? thanks in advance. andy
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 I think it was always the case that you have to create the folder yourself. Though I'm still using SmartTones post 1.6 upgrade, I think I've read somewhere here that the phone will read wavs from the SD card root directory itself anyway. Perhaps someone will confirm this.
Guest kjk Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 If you store your ringtones in Storage Card/My Documents so you can use these as ringtone in Settings/sounds on your phone. you don't need any app to use ringtones from sd card if you have orange 1,6 rom :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 Also in IPSMApplication Data you need to create a folder caooed "Sounds" :)
Guest mark24 Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 Help!!!!!, i have recently upgraded my spv to the new software.and now i cannot put ringtones on my phone. Also hving problems with sd card, when i put the card in it asks me if i want to format to use on device, then comes up problem formatting the storage card folder(error code 0). Can any one help me please?.
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 Never had storage card problems myself, but can you give more details for the ringtone problem please. You've got the original SPV (Canary) and have just upgraded to 1.6 ROM ? Have you got the folder IPSMApplication DataSounds ? If not, use ActiveSynch or phone file explorer to create it and put the files in there. Are you using .wavs or MID0 ?
Guest mark24 Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 Thankyou for your reply,at the moment i am using wav files, but intend putting mp3 files on to the storage card. The problem initially is getting the phone to accept the card,i take it that the card does have to be formatted before use
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 I've used a variety of card makes & sizes in the SPV original and have never had to do anything with it, regardless of the ROM version. If you use the Search facility above, there are at least a couple of threads discussing the problem of SD cards though.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 Try using the excellent Task Manager this app will format the card for you.
