Firstly there might be a easy answer to this. Checking posts on here I have read that the Orange WAP homepage used to be wsp://orange.multimedia but is now wsp://wap.orange.co.uk.

Can anyone confirm the correct one?

Anyway, I have been trying the latter and I am receiving the following:

alert - System Error :-2147467259

Line 0, Position 0

(null)

any help would be appreciated!

Cheers

Thanks but that will connect me to the Internet version of the Orange World homepage. I want to connect to the WAP page as it is cheaper. Any ideas on that one?

There isn't a WML version of Orange World for the SPV, only HTML.

Is that what you mean ?

just found this on the orange web site dont know it it helps!

Although the pages of the smartphone portal are written in HTML (as opposed to WML for wap pages) and are therefore "web" pages, they are the same size (in Kb) as the wap pages. Hence, if you are paying per Mb, there is no cost differential between the two access methods. If you have subscribed to one of the new Orange World bundles you will be connecting via Orange GPRS and will be charged for the amount of data sent and received at the Orange World bundle rate.

Thanks for the response but in answer to Martin's comment there are certainly 2 versions of the Orange World page, one which is the HTTP page and one which is the WSP page. This is obvious when you look at the 2 versions of the same pages. The HTTP ones have more pictures and stuff like that. Also, I wonder why they give you different home pages for accessing the internet and WAP when you set up the phone ie.

http://smartphone.co.uk for Internet

wsp://orange.multimedia for WAP

They must give you 2 pages for a reason, surely??

If I understand correctly Dave thinks that there is no cost differential between the two methods but I spoke to Orange today, and at one point they said to me that for 1 MB you get 1200 WAP pages, and about 20 INTERNET pages and then they said that whether you connect to the HTTP page or the WSP page they are both internet pages. I hope to get through to their 2nd line support later to clarify this but any other help would be great.

i dont "think" this at alll these are not my thoughts it is a paragraph i pulled directly from the orange web page .. i personally have never bothered with all the wap s*** on my smartphone as it defeats the object of having full internet access

Ah, but what is an internet page? :)

You must be able to visit a small internet page designed for pIE (such as http://wap.orange.co.uk) far more times that a normal internet page (http://www.dabs.com for example).

I'm on 5Mb pack and I visit for more than 100 (20*5) pages a month and still stay in my quota.

My theory anyway ...

yes true orange quote "1mb =20 web pages"

so acording to that EVERY web page is 50k ?? now if you go on a web page that has a shitload of pictures on it then it must be more than 50k?

Dave.

I should have remarked about the fact you found it on the Orange website rather than the way I wrote it so sorry about that!
