Guest daviec Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 I've had my mpx200 a couple of weeks now and was very impressed. But as is the way with these things I got curious and headed off into internet-land to find some games for it. I was delighted to find Rick Dangerous which I remember from years back on my Atari ST. However I found out that my phone (from Orange) is application locked. Obviously a short search later and I found the alphaflux unlock download and put it on my phone. Ran it, and it said it installed fine. Next I switched my phone off to stick on the charger, but then decided to try out if the unlock truely had been succesful. I switched back on to play Rick D, only to find to my horror that the phone locks on the start-up "Hellomoto" screen. I can't even do a hard reset! Anyone got any ideas?
Guest daviec Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 Right, I've managed a hard reset now, but I'm a bit worried about why it locked up in the first place. From the number of folk who're happy with the alphaflux unlock I would have thought it was perfectly safe. Is this a known issue with the phone? I hadn't a single problem up till then.
Guest MPXtricky Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 Alphaflux Unlock worked fine on my phone and I have installed many apps since. Can't get Rick to work though - I just get the alternating picture of Rick and credits listing, along with the music.... game won't run.
Guest hippotech Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 It's a Christmas thing !!!! The exact same thing happened to me. I have had mine for a couple of weeks and have run it unlocked for more than one week without a single issue. Christmas morning - dead !!!! One hard-reset later and a small installation frenzy, back up and running. If it's any consolation, a friend of mine who has had his phone a week or two longer says his seems to run much better since the hard-reset - we'll have to see. Hippo
Guest scott2eyes Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 My phone got locked up the first time I ran the application unlock on it- however, seeing as I had installed a whole bunch of software immediately after unlocking, (including the MMS fix through editing the registry editor), my suspicion is that it wasn't the unlocking which caused the lockup (it got as far as the Microsoft screen when rebooting for the first time, then the taskbar appeared with a low battery warning- even though the battery was fully charged- then went nowhere.) I'm just slightly irritated that I didn't discover Orange backup until after having to hard-reset and wipe all my contacts etc...
Guest equis Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 I think its the phone I had my MPX ATT lock up on me even with out any kind of installations of any kind, I ran software on my US version with out the Alphaflux decert. I installed the AlphaFlux just in case anyways and it seems fine, it kinda hangs on apps when they are open, you should get that application close program QuickClose from the Monolithix site http://www.thunderstats.com/download.cgi?h.../QuickClose.zip For some reason in all the infinite wisdom of Microsoft once you exit an application it is still running in the background and makes the whole phone slugish.
Guest McHale Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 The Alphaflux unlock was for NON-AT&T MPx200's only. The AT&T phones are already app unlocked. I am pretty sure I read someplace that it was highly advised NOT to install it on AT&T phones... -Mc

Are you sure that you just haven't actually started the game? When I first installed the game, I got the same thing, but didn't read the instructions so I was hitting all the keypad buttons, the blue action key, etc. Finally I realized the jog-dial / volume button on the side was the 'action' key for this game, and moving the jog dial up started the game. Maybe give that a try.
