Guest midnight Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 The first shots of the Motorola MPX100 are being shown over at msmobiles. Apparently, the MPX100 is the entry level Smartphone from Motorola
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 Shame there are no proper shots of the screen :?
Guest midnight Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 yeh, and sorry msmobiles, but i was almost tempted to not post any image of the phone at all, watermarking stops people from stealing your images, but PLEASE find a way of doing it without ruining the photo. The image SHOULD NOT look like an msmobiles branded phone.
Guest www.msmobiles.com Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 image SHOULD NOT look like an msmobiles branded phone. :)
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003  I agree with Midnight... P
Guest nickcornaglia Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 What makes an entry level Smartphone? Less Memory? Less Processor? Less Preinstalled Software? The new one has a camera and that's a step up from the original in a way.
Guest midnight Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 yup, i was thinking exactly the same, looks like this entry level phone will be more advanced than tha mpx200, which err, is rather strange. maybe the mpx200 took, longer than expected to develop? maybe it was more of a trial for motorola to ensure that an ms smartphone was a viable alternative to symbian (if theres any truth in them ditching smybian in favour of microsoft)? who knows, but if they can bring out the mpx100 for the same price as the mpx200 (free on some contracts) with built in camera and wm2k3, it will be a much sought after phone in my opinion.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 Agreed....it's better looking than the MPx200 as well.
Guest Jasonkruys Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 Or maybe it isn't a smartphone at all, and msnmobiles have got their facts wrong (again  )
Guest Simon Desser Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 yeh, and sorry msmobiles, but i was almost tempted to not post any image of the phone at all, watermarking stops people from stealing your images, but PLEASE find a way of doing it without ruining the photo. The image SHOULD NOT look like an msmobiles branded phone. :) Here's a picture of it which has been watermarked, without ruining the picture :Dmpx100.jpg
Guest superkingdave Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 erm.. any one else thinks its disgusting?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 The blue is, quite like the metallic red though. Shame about the aerial too...
Guest yoos Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 But if the aerial gives it alot better reception that I'd be all for it... I have a samsung with an external aerial and the reception blows the SPV away. Not sure if it is the external aerial or what though to be honest...
Guest superkingdave Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 i had a samsung before my spv and it was the most reliable phone i had and came with two batteries. but i would still say it is the worst phone i have had. i was really excited when i got it but then i realised that it was no where near as feature packed as my previous nokia which had stuff like multiple numbers for contacts and flexible memory. so in conclusion i prefer my mobiles to be innovative in featured rather than reliable, though if its reliable thats ok( although what is there to bitch about). probably why i dont like this phone though... have a prejudice against flip phones after the A300 Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest jambo Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 Why bother watermarking anyway? It's not like it's hard to remove...gone.jpg
Guest midnight Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 yes, but out of common courtesy to msmobiles, the originator of the story, the watermark shouldnt be removed
Guest kyrkesmith Posted December 28, 2003 Report Posted December 28, 2003 Yeah, kinda shows that there's no need to watermark obtrusively though - if someone wants to, they can easily remove it. msmobiles.com had something here about the MPx220 having an aerial too, but that it was to make it quad band. In the pics on MPx200.org it looked a bit crappy too. I thought we'd moved on from aerials?
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 28, 2003 Report Posted December 28, 2003 I think it looks pretty funky despite the resemblance to one of those baby monitors :!: If the features are all there, I'll certainly be tempted.
Guest glynton Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 Is that a flash or a speaker? That little white dot resembles the 'flash' from the x70 and the gx20.
Guest McHale Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 You have no idea how many external antennas I snapped off Motorola v60's, but if someone from Motorola said that without it was a clean phone with good reception but with it gave it BETTER reception, well, I'm for it. I'm more bummed about the smaller screen resolution. Maybe the MPx300 will have the larger res? Maybe I'll wait until I find out the specs on what's coming out before I buy. I'm *SO* close to an upgrade... -Mc
Guest midnight Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 smaller screen resolution? all smartphones (currently) should all have 176 x 220 i reckon it will be at least july/august next year before we see 320 x 200, hopefully launched at the same time as mobile direct x, the new ti processor (running at 220mhz (40% speed improvement on top of that) while only using half the battery)
Guest Zeiss Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 Sure this is MPX100 ... from what i heard it is Motorola MS230, measuring 7×45.6×18mm,internal screen 260K color TFT ,128×144, external 96×39.... again i might be wrong :?: Do a search on MS230..... the result or ...1154.jpg1152.jpg
Guest kyrkesmith Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 Bottom one, yes. Top one, almost certainly wrong. Keypad layout is completely wrong. A GPS button? Now, that would be pretty cool.
Guest kyrkesmith Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 Although, looking here, when closed it does look pretty similar to what we've seen of MPx100.
Guest Zeiss Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 two different model using the same hardware design design??? ...sound strange
