Guest scaryscotsman Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 Noticed in the newspaper today that dixons are offer a 128mb MMC card for £29.99. Is this the cheapest to be found on the highstreet? The offer is only on for 4 days. It is made by Lexar. Thanks again.
Guest HurricaneDave Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/in...mVzdWx0cw%3D%3D ebuyer have sd cards for a bout the same price and sd cards are alot better than mmc
Guest PsychoDave Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 Summat up with your link mate :D Try this one. Cheapest 128mb SD card £27 + postage. Not too shabby :)
Guest nxsfan Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 I just bought a 128MB SD card from dixons for £29.99, i think they've been reduced in the sale, much better speed than the mmc card.
Guest shadamehr Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 I just bought a 128MB SD card from dixons for £29.99, i think they've been reduced in the sale, much better speed than the mmc card. I've just returned from the Metrocentre, and was about to report the same finding... EXCEPT... The staff in the shop told me this WAS the deal referred to. When I told them a MMC is different to an SD card, no less than THREE extremely knowledgable staff (yeah right), looked at me as if I was from Mars, and in no uncertain terms told me that they were almost identical, and fully compatible with each other so to speak. No amount of trying to EDUCATE these idiots would do, so in the end, I took out my E200 and asked them if the card in it was an SD card (big clue - it had SD emblazened across it). When they said it was, I asked them to put it into my Nokia N-Gage. You should have seen the look on their faces when they couldn't get it into the half height retainer of the N-Gage. Then I held up my 'almost identical' (their words) MMC card, and popped it straight in. I left the shop with my very cheap SD card for the E200, with the staff muttering things like "I never realised they were different/I thought they were the same thing" etc. etc. Nevertheless, this means that it is an even better deal, as according to them, it is DEFINATELY the SD card that the deal refers to. So I scored for a spare 128MB card for my E200 for £29.99, which is VERY good, on the high street. In my case though, it was a crying shame... As I specifically needed it to be MMC, as it was meant to be for my g/f's N-Gage. So bear this all in mind folks.
Guest mike-oh Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Is USB 2.0 backwardly compatible with 1.1? I'm wanting to get a 7 in 1 card reader which is USB 2.0 (i will upgrade one day, i promise) and i've only got 1.1 on my pc. Will it work?
Guest siu99spj Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Yep a USB 2.0 device will work in a USB 1.1 port, just like a USB 1.1 device will work in a USB 2.0 port (As an aside, USB 1.1 should be called USB and USB 2.0 should be called USB Hi-Speed, there's officially no such thing as USB 2.0, but everyone has cottoned onto the phrase). The main difference between the two is the parts in the USB 2.0 device can handle the increased speed of 480MB/s rather than the paltry 12 MB/s. Yes I KNOW there are lots of minor technical differences but they're unnoticable as far as connecting hardwrae goes. And somewhat bveyond the scope of this forum
