Guest dma Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 I finally phoned Orange and asked them to replace my MPX-200 battery that has had diminishing performance since I got it on the 8th of December. I was told that the battery would be replaced under the terms of my phone insurance, but that "this time the excess of £15 would be waived". I questioned this and said it was a manufacturing fault, not an insurance claim. The woman on the phone just made out as if all claims of any kind were covered under insurance and not any other warranty. Now I am sure that I don't want to be making a claim on insurance just for a battery problem within 3 weeks of getting a new phone. Any advice would be appreciated, Duncan
Guest dshaugney Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 I'm thinking of doing that too.. did it go ahead? I think you need to call motorla instead of Orange. Here's the number: 0870 9010 555
Guest dma Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 Yes. I recieved a new battery from Orange this morning. Maybe I should have called Motorola
Guest dshaugney Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 I would really apreciate if you could let me know if new battery makes any difference. (of course this time you'll charge it for 24 hours, right?)
Guest dma Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 Okay, the battery had a 14 hour charge during the day. I am out and about for the next few days, but i'll do a full charge and leave it to see what happens and then post back in a few days.
Guest rchiileea Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 i full charged my battery left phone of for 24 hours when i first got it. a play a hell of a lot of dougie lampkins trial riding wich should flat batt in a day but phone last about 48hours before game approx 50-60 hours hope this helps
Guest dharden Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 I thought my battery life was terrible when i got my phone - less than a day usually. However I've read some of the threads on this forum and managed to get the thing to last a few days without charge now (apart from when I play the tennis game, which seems to eat batteries). Whenever i come out of an application or game i fire up Task Manager and make sure it isn't still running in the background. Obviously if you're in the middle of a game this isn't an option if you want to return to it. Doing this, along with removing IA Caller ID has absolutely transformed the battery life! I've gone from being very disappointed to being quite impressed! I started the day at 81% battery charge and now, after some calls and surfing and general messing around with it (no games though) it's down to 70%. Hope that's useful to anyone experiencing poor battery life......
Guest rchiileea Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 who needs caller id on a flip any way my flips set to awnser on open so id never get to see pic anyway
Guest mike-oh Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 my phone was fully charged, just made a 15min call and i got the battery low warning! Will be on the phone to orange in a second, can anyone suggest the best number i should try and ring?
Guest dma Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 GREAT  Still not getting more than 36 hours standby. Guess I am going to have to get the phone replaced now.
