Two newbie questions

Hi

I've a couple of questions which I'd be grateful if someone could either help me with or point towards the relevant thread (I have had a search through but can't seem to find anything.)

1. I seem to be getting very low on storage space

Internal Flash Storage shows 3.0Mb/10.3Mb

Memory shows:

Total 20.7/28.4Mb

Program 10.5/17.8Mb

Storage 10.1/10.6Mb

What can I safely remove to improve matters? (I've already removed all emails, etc using spacemaker in accessories and deleted all the photos from off the phone.)

This leads onto my second question.

2. I've gone into settings/remove programs (ditto add/remove programs in Activsync) and can only find the two progs I've added using Activsync. How do I remove other programs such as the games I've loaded from the SD card.

To check you have deleted all you sent sms and emails have, you can

delete the contents of the MAPI folder.

Other things that can case the memory to fill is large ringtones, but the key to keeping the phones memory nice and empty is to make sure you install all your apps and games etc to the storage card.

As long as you have actually installed games etc they should show up in the Remove Programs section in Settings on the phone.

There is a known bug with 2002 wher if you have installed 50 or more apps then the Remove Programs section appears to be empty.

The games which were installed from the SD which came with the phone, are definately on the phone but don't appear in the remove programs list.

Also I've just tried to install Smart Explorer and SP Task Manager. Task manager installs fine but Smart Explorer fails and I get a message saying that the program does not have adequate system permissions.

By the way the phone has been unlocked.

Strange as I have both these apps running on my mpx so it sounds like you have an underlying problem.

A suggestion would be to Hard Reset and start from scratch (if possible)

Generally most problems with storage are to do with users getting a bit carried away with their new phones :)

If you do the resset just remember to have your contacts synced with Outlook as a back up.

I experienced some similar problems after installing xBar. My phone locked up and I couldn't do anything, not even power down. I had to take the battery out to power down so I could get back in. After that, the Remove Programs section was empty and Smart Explorer wouldn't launch (and I only had about 10 programs installed). A Hard Reset was the solution for me. Since then I have reinstalled Smart Explorer and even xBar with no problems.

Of course, now I am seriously considering flashing the ROM to Moto to wipe out ATT's nasty presence.
